A group. of decided to pop in here for a quick bite(against my advice!) And to be blunt hit and miss would accurately describe my last visit. And for me personally it was a miss! A sad unloved bacon and chicken sandwich is what I appeared to have ordered and all for the bargain price of 8 quid. Most of my friends fared no better. Somebody ordered a sausage and mash and that looked respectable. But then again if you can muck up a sausage and mash you probably shouldn’t be in a kitchen. Wild horses could not drag me here again. Not when there is Ital B just up the road which is infinitely better!

Went here for New Years. Group of us thought we would have bite to eat. Before party started, wish I neaver, ordered a pulled BBQ beef wrap with chips. For a reasonable £8 Worse wrap ever eaten. Turned up soggy(understatement) was like it was dipped in gravy before being served. Not happy as I have eaten a nice meal here before. Don’t no if they’ve change the chief Dissipointed

The green dragon started life very well, Brunch and Mezze were both great. Unfortunatly times have changed and its all down hill now. it you dont have time to read on the short version is poor food, over priced drinks and poor service, dont be fooled by the good quality décor that it the only good thing about this place!!! The first time i visited and ordered a handmade burger i recieved a lovely juicy burger which from the taste was clearly made in house. It had the lovely not perfect shape as of course a handmade burger doesnt have the stabalisers that allow it to be forced into a perfect circle. Last time i visited i reieved a 20p processed burger, if it was beef i couldnt taste it, all i could taste was the tonne of e numbers and onion powder that processed food is full of. I dont eat processed food ever, not because im a snob but because i dont like the taste of it, so when it is put in front of me i know what it is. The manager however felt the need to argue that he saw the chef make it with his own eyes. A valid attemt at defending his business but it would be impossible to create that flavour without a factory and a scientist mixing the chemicals. The sausage and mash my wife had was of similar quality. We complained and recieved a ½ attempt at a sorry, so tried to pay. The manager had the cheek to put the burger that i had taken 1 bite out of on my bill. I asked for it to be removed which he did, largely i think because he realised i would not pay for the other part of the bill if he didnt change it and then walked off. As for the service, once apon a time when you walked it it was open arms and a great big hello, .now you are lucky if they notice you. By the way i sent a polite letter of complaint to the manager 2 weeks ago to give him the chance to make ammends, he didnt even bother replying. Local alternatives include the willy wicket, the beefeater, the follly and the harvester — Stay well away it will be the best decision you make today!!!

At last, some competition of quality food in Downend. Had the sunday roast, the place is clean, the welcome friendly, the service attentive and the food was delicious and deceptively large portioned. I recommend the duck noodle salad and the roast beef. Be advised, it’s secret is out, so book well in advance.
