For lunch/dinner or whatever you visit the Kings Head for, there’s something on the menu which suits all occasions and taste. From the wonderfully authentic Carribean combo to the mouthwatering and very generous roasts. There is also a big selection of fresh fish and a superb selection of options on the daily special’s board. All The staff are friendly. Give it try — recommend booking to avoid disappointment.

Wow here we go then. The King’s Head on Whitehall Rd and I’m here to sample one of their notorious roasts. I’m going to have to cut to the chase here a little because I’m hungry and this place for me is all about the scran. I opted for the Caribbean combo which weighed in at a not to cheap £14.95. This had better be good then ! And fortunately it was absolutely gorgeous. Jeremy chicken, pork and goat curry all cooked perfectly and all tasting perfect. I was in a caribbean heaven in Whitehall. And there was a mountain of food for me to consume. On top of that the staff were very friendly and were more then happy to rearrange the tables for us to be accommodated. This place is 100% win.

I have looked hard to find a Caribbean eatery that can beat the consistency of this place. I have failed. Every time I visit I am amazed at the food. The booze selection is ok and the food is on the pricey side, but it’s worth it. They offer takeaway dinners so if you are close(and lazy) enough you can eat it at home. Sometimes that’s the only way you will get to eat it as it’s packed to the rafters loads of the time… Especially Sunday’s Combo it up !

I’ve heard nothing but good things about this place so can’t believe it’s taken me this long to check it out! Before I go in to detail let’s just say it didn’t disappoint. For those that don’t know this pub serves a mix of traditional English and Caribbean food. We went to sample the Sunday lunch and I can’t wait to go back. The menu has your traditional roast beef, lamb or chicken or the Caribbean options are jerk belly of pork, curried goat or jerk chicken. They even do a combo where you can get all three! I was feeling a little fragile from the night before so stuck with a good old roast lamb and it was really good. The meat was cooked beautifully, the potatoes were lovely and crispy and the veg was fresh and not over cooked. I’ve had better yorkshires but it was okay. I was gutted I didn’t go for the Caribbean option though, as I saw other peoples plates arrive I had serious food envy! I’m def going back next Sunday for more. Okay so I’ve been back and after not being able to choose I went for the Caribbean combo, Jesus it’s HUGE but every bit as delicious as I hoped. The pork belly was especially good.

Well worth a visit for the amazing Caribbean food, especially their Jerk belly pork, served with rice and peas, buttered veg and homemade coleslaw! Good value and epic portions, and they even offer takeaway roast-winner!

Noticing from one of their advertising boards that good beers were being served I decided to give this place another go after the reasonably recent refurb. It had never been a place I went to often and when I had the experience had always been mediocre. But a good pint would’ve made all the difference. After my recent visit I’m saddened to say a refurb and a good pint has done little to improve the place and my time there was worse than ever before. It’s not clear what this place is aiming for. More than half of it is laid out like a hotel dining room with bright lighting and upright chairs at dining tables. The more pubby part of the place is again very bright and dominated by massive TVs. This wasn’t the end of the world and I have to say the beer was kept very nice. But, but! From where I was sitting there was a very strong smell coming from the toilets, which just didn’t go away. Then ironically a table of three men left and a member of staff swooped to their table, disinfected it and then bombed the room with air freshener. I don’t think I’ve ever been so offended on someone else’s behalf. I hadn’t noticed a hint of smell or dirtiness off any of them and if I had I still don’t think those actions would’ve been justified. Even less so considering how little the bathroom smell seemed to concern the staff. So even if they had the fountain of youth on tap at the Kings Head I would stay clear.
