What a lovely pub! The food was delicious(homemade veggie soups, ploughmans lunch, and Sunday dinner)! The lovely young lady at the bar was very sweet and took great care of us. Highly recommend.

Great deals on Sangria back when I came here with my friends. For some reason a group of us girls stumbled inside. The place was nothing outstanding(though the drinks were strong, which is always good in my book), but for some reason we formed a great memory here and promised to meet here again in ten years for a reunion after our studying abroad came to an end. So, for the memories, five stars. Cheers, Jersey Lily!

A very pleasant pub with good beer and a large selection of whiskies. Very comfortable and cozy. Great for a quiet drink and a catch up with mates. Would’t recommend this if you are looking for a banging night. but if you are girls looking for a pub without hassle or older farts like me who want to avoid annoying hooray Henry students, that blight Clifton, then enjoy . The food is what you would expect for a pub, unless you are pissed and if that the case try Miss Millies’ opposite!

I have to give Jersey Lily a good score because it provided me with one of the best night’s I’ve had out in Bristol. On the face of it, the other reviewers are right; it’s a bit of an old man’s pub. But once inside what you’ll find is reasonably priced drinks and a great team of bar staff. We only came in for a few after work Friday drinks and ended staying up until closing time. Would I have had such a good time if it weren’t for the fab bunch I was with? Possibly not, but Jersey Lily was a great location for a great night. I’ve been back since and had a pleasant time, and I’d say that this pub in Clifton Village will always give you a reliably pleasant time.

Despite it’s hip and cool location, The Jersey Lilly is basically an old man’s real ale pub at heart, that has tried in recent times, to attract a trendier, more youthfull crowd, by giving it a makeover. As you walk in now it certainly looks like it belongs along side the other popular bars and restaurants on Whiteladies Road, with it’s clean contemporary lines, set againt rustic old tradtional features. But the old clientelle haven’t really noticed and still prop up the bar. It serves some traditional food at fairly reasonable prices with the Sunday roasts in particular being quite popular, but this pub sort of suffers from something of an identity crisis now. It’s not quite the swish trendy bar the youngsters are looking for and it’s sort of sold out on it’s traditional appeal, by trying to attract them. Not a bad pub though.

Just up the hill from the Blackboy Inn, the Jersey Lilly is another pub which looks a little old and traditional that has been refurbished inside to give more of a modern feel. They’re all about the traditional ales here, so offer the full range from spit fire to really unique guest ales such as Mcmullen Rocket. It’s surprisingly large inside, and there’s a sofas and tables to take your pick from. I’ve been in when it’s been really busy on Saturday night before, which was a little too crowded for my liking, so it’s a bit better on a weekday. They do a pub quiz on a Monday night, from which you can apparently win unusual prizes — I’m yet to hear what they are though. There’s a good menu of fairly priced pub grub, all around the £6 mark. I’ve tried a burger in here before which was nicely cooked and presented well. Not a place that you’d perhaps obviously think of coming, but definitely worth a try.

Clifton’s got quite a few pubs like this. Fairly traditional, fairly expensive, and with a pretty good(but remember it’s expensive) food. This one isn’t overly fantastic, though certainly not too shabby. It’s located near to the top of Whiteladies, so unless you’re lucky enough to live by the Downs there’s a bit climb to get here. If you make the effort you should arrive at a middlingly full pub most of the time. They don’t have to many students this far up(unlike further down the hill where most places are utterly heaving with them), which means you do get a fairly quiet drink here. The focus is on real ales, making a quiet Saturday afternoon is probably what this place is best for. The food side of things is done to a pretty well and I’m sure a Sunday roast here would be lovely. Not a bad pub at all, in my opinion. Just a bit expensive for my tastes and not that lively.

This is a rather unspectacular old man’s style pub which sits near the top of Whiteladies Road. Considering the prime location, the Jersey Lily is something of a thorn between many roses. It’s a one room affair, with a long bar snaking down the right hand side. The main focus here is real ales, which attracts a slightly less trendy crowd than you would expect for the area. They serve food, including a roast on Sundays, though I haven’t tried it so can’t comment, and there’s no garden so smokers have to congregate out the front. This is an unremarkable pub with few notable features to make it stand out from a busy crowd.

Located near the top of Whiteladies road, the Lilly has really come into it’s own over the last couple of years. One of the first port of calls on the illustrious Whiteladies road pubcrawl(I promise I’ll write a guide to this and many other crawls, it’s just so difficult remembering them afterwards). This pub deserves your time and money more then most other pubs on Whiteladies. It’s relatively small inside but with a light cream interior and attractive lighting it feels very comfortable. The beer on tap isn’t incredible but there’s a decent enough selection of drink(the whiskeys are very nice). The food here is tasty, filling and for clifton, reasonably priced. They do a quiz(it’s date varies from mondays and tuesdays) which is a fairly good one, the prize being a minute behind the bar(they never saw me coming! — or realised I turn into a bar tendering octopus when given the chance — that’s my super power btw). There are seats outside on the street which is a very pleasant place to be even for non smokers on a warm day. The staff are cheerful and friendly however when I last came they were training new staff and they were terrible but it was more amusing then annoying. There’s nothing here that makes it distinctly better then any other pubs other then that it’s a good all rounder and has no discernable faults. 3 and half stars
