Yes! With that name alone you have my attention(it’s a Bristol expression, I think, I have lived here for a while and I still have no idea what it means, let’s presume it means tasty). I used to love getting my lunch from here; they use rich local produce, like thick bacon and strong cheese. That actually used to be my favourite sarnie and it was one of the best around; thick cut bacon, very strong smoked cheddar and homemade chutney; you’d be full for hours. But I went in today and they have had a face lift, I didn’t actually see any staff, so I moved on elsewhere, but if the food is anywhere near as good as it used to be I very much recommend them. Gert Lush is a firm favourite with the painters & decorators and brickies in the area, probably because of the lovely, welcoming local service, perfect bacon roll and strong cup of tea.

A funky little sandwich shop, the nibbles on offer at Gert Lush really are, er, gert lush! A real local success story, this place has been banging out baguettes for years with a name that’s sure to alienate anyone by the most ardent local. The prices are perhaps a tad too steep to allow you to indulge every day, but if you’ve got that Friday feeling, the chicken and mozzarella panini certainly beats your average packed lunch. What next, a new localised A-Z called ‘Where’s That To?’?!
