A nice place to lounge around in. There are plush sofas downstairs in the additional seating area.

My three trips here have been pleasant enough, and the menu seems to have improved since day one, but it’s an underwhelming place, and I really don’t mean to be mean. The coffee is OK, but a bit plain and unexciting. The large, open window is actually rather nice for sitting in on a muggy day, but otherwise there’s a lack of atmosphere. The location is good, but when there are so many other options around, with new places opening up all the time, I think Caffe Be On may struggle against the competition, which offer better coffee and cooler hangouts. Things may improve, and I intend to give it another go, so will update soon!

Not a bad little café, this! But nothing to write home about unfortunately! I dropped in for a coffee this afternoon, having spend my morning in the Birdcage which is opposite. It’s the second time I’ve been to Café Be On. I thought I’d give it another shot. But I was equally as unenthused as the last time. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with it — there just nothing that sets it apart. Lots of wood everywhere. Tables laid out in uniform and everything fitting together just so. The coffee is good. The tea is fine. The cakes are actually pretty good — but look bought in and a bit too precise, if that makes sense! They sell a selection of sandwiches and salads. I’ve not tried them, and I probably never will. With the likes of the Birdcage opposite, Brigstow Café and Small Street Espresso within 1 – 3 mins walking distance, Café Be On is just a bit too ‘standard’ — for me, anyway!
