These ladies are fantastic. I get my eyebrows done here(HD — do it or regret it) and they really do look after you here. They are friendly, attentive, give advice and do not snub you like I have been in other salons in the past. They gave me advice on my skin(which was spot on) and they really sorted out my eyebrows. I want to keep going back because they give good customer service. I haven’t tried many other salons in Brighton but I do feel loyal to this one after just 2 visits.

This place is another over-priced crap business. I went for a pedicure here and the rude, bitchy young girl(who I’m sure was taking the piss of me with her colleague) basically put my feet in one of those spa bath things and painted my toenails. This is not what I call a pedicure — especially for what they charge! She cut my nails too short and then told me I couldn’t have a French tip polish… Red is it then. I felt uncomfortable and judged. It was like going back to school. Save your money folks and steer clear of this business. It may look inviting but the service is unacceptable. Brighton nails do the best pedicures!!!

My wife really needed a pick-me-up after a family tragedy about 18mths ago. Well she really got it here, after being recommended by a family member. The staff were lovely as was/is the place itself. She came out a new woman, as she put it. Since then she has made regular visits, and as she says, «I don’t care what it costs. I feel good». That’s what it’s all about. Ooh okey cokey cokey!!!

Stepping into The Lanes Beauty and Health salon is like walking into the boudoir of Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn. In short, it’s the most glamourous salon I’ve ever visited. Black leather seats sit next to sparkly sofas and bright pink gadgets and decorations. It’s utterly girly. Each of the rooms upstairs has a movie star theme, ranging from the demure class of Hepburn to the raunchy Ava Gardner. Each contains luxurious treatment beds, sparkly room accessories and amazing retro prints. Downstairs, there’s a fabulous nail bar, where you can sip pink champagne while your nails are pampered. The seats are comfortable(a must when you’re having your nails done) and the conversation is fun and friendly. The Lanes Beauty and Health salon is a welcome change to the slightly sterile, bright white environments of other salons. If you’re in Brighton, I’d highly recommend you grab a girlfriend and pop in. They’re competitively priced too, so it won’t break the bank.

Standing in complete antithesis to the calming atmosphere, plinky-plonky music and herbal tea of The Treatment Rooms( ), The Lanes Health and Beauty offers a young and funky atmosphere reminiscent of the image of beauty salons I gained from watching far too many chick flicks at a young age. Decorated in cool black and hot pink, the décor is 90s-chic without being cheesy. The staff are generally very smiley and always look glamorous — like they’ve stepped right out of the cast of Hollyoaks. In a good way. I went here recently with Saltatrix( ) for a pedicure which could not have been more different from my serene, calming and private experience at The Treatment Rooms. Rather than a place to go when you feel like relaxing with a bit of «me time», this is the ideal spot for a pedicure with one of your girlfriends as part of a shopping trip — huge, American-style, black leather pedicure chairs(with massage function), built-in foot spas, funky coloured nail polish(I went for the bright blue) and most importantly, a glass of Buck’s Fizz(which, let’s be honest, it’s NEVER too early in the day for). The £32 for the Spa Pedicure is SO worth it.

If you want to treat yourself, this is the place to go. I have been twice and have been very happy with my treatments both times. The people who work there are very friendly and welcoming which gives it a relaxing and warm atmosphere which is certainly a plus for a beauty clinic. They are also one of the few places in town that have the big American spa pedicure chairs. Once you go spa, any other pedicure just doesn’t seem as good. It is worth the extra money. I was also offered Bucks Fizz during my pedicure which just added to the pampering feeling. In terms of price it is pretty reasonable and around the same as other places in town, but given the quality of treatments and the lovely beauticians, in my opinion, it’s the best value for money in town!

Pink, pink pink. I would never usually set foot in a place this pink and girly, but after a boozy lunch with a girlfriend it suddenly seemed like a good idea to combine a manicure with a glass of champagne. We ended up getting a pedicure so that we could sit in the fantastic massaging ‘pedichairs’ which are popular in LA but are rarely seen here. The pedicurist did a great job, she was friendly and used Essie nail varnishes on us. I would say that if you’re going to drink though, save it for a special occasion, as it the bubbly costs extra. We ended up spending over £40 each!

This is the kind of place that in theory makes me shudder… glittery floor tiles, pink fluffy pens, pink champagne nail bar etc. Its seriously girly, which I am not. And as I sat waiting for my wax appointment, I did feel terribly scruffy in my parka and trainers. However, the staff were genuinely lovely– really welcoming and efficient… and although I felt like I’d walked into a Baby Spice beauty salon, I began to sort of like the ostentatiousness of it all! But I wasn’t there to inspect the décor, so let’s get down to the nitty gritty. Waxing is never pleasant and I, with a particularly low pain threshold, have always found bikini waxing to be something of a complete and utter nightmare! I usually book appointments and then chicken out at the last minute. I have been back to this place twice now, so that’s saying something! The girl who did my wax was chirpy, competent and above all QUICK! Her name is Rene and she is definitely the best waxer I’ve ever been to. At £10, its also much cheaper than many other places in town! Now, let’s return momentarily to the Pink Champagne Nail Bar. That’s right, you can sip champagne whilst having your nails done. What will they think of next? So, if you want a manicure with a fancy twist, this is the place for you!
