Very popular indian takeaway and eat-in restaurant up in Hollingbury that is clearly a favourite with families. It’s great if you don’t want to ride into town and live up here in Hollingbury because it’s as good as anything in the city centre and very reasonably priced. I recommend experimenting with the changing house specials. I’ve eaten here many times and never been disappointed. Try the mango lassi!

What a pleasant surprise to get an Indian takeaway that doesn’t disappoint, only too often am I left poking bits of tough meat covered in fluorescent sauce around my plate while my stomach rumbles for something that better resembles food as we know it. Sri Indian, however, provided me with a good quality, tasty meal at the end of a tough day. Having read the glowing reviews for this restaurant on Unilocal I’ve been meaning to try it since I moved into my new house which is handily located just a few minutes down the road. Today I popped in and took my time to peruse the lengthy menu that specialises in a fusion of Indian and Bangladeshi food. I decided to try the lamb rangani with jeera rice and the tadka dal. Unfortunately, when I got home I found mushroom rice instead of the jeera which was supposed to be cooked with cumin seeds. It was tasty, but sadly not what I ordered. The lamb rangani was delicious — the sauce a beautiful but subtle combination of honey and ginger, and the lamb delightfully tender. The tadka dal was tasty but the texture was a little too runny for me. The staff in the restaurant were lovely and I will definitely be back to eat in the restaurant, and Sri Indian will probably be my Indian takeaway of choice when the motivation to cook has ebbed away. After all, they have an extensive menu that I will have to work my way through!

If you hadn’t already guessed from their name, this is an Indian Fusion restaurant. As a purist, the word ‘fusion’ always scares me a little bit but luckily Sri India shows us how it should be done. We’ve ordered from here on a number of occasions and never been disappointed with their efficient service, high quality ingredients and size of the dishes delivered. There are so many things on this menu that you should try, too many to list, but here are the highlights for me: Salmon Paturi(salmon marinated in mustard seed and coconut then baked in a leaf), Murgh Haryali(a very spicy chicken green masala with mint and coriander) and Bhindi Amchuri(ladyfingers cooked in mango powder). Got you interested yet? They claim that their ‘food is from the heart’ and that once you’ve tasted it you’ll be addicted. They weren’t wrong.

This takeaway is rightfully regarded as one of the best in Brighton. Described as ‘Indian Fusion’, the food here ranges from Special Balti dishes, like the Sri India Special Balti — a mixture of lamb, chicken, prawn and vegetables -, to Fish and Shellfish dishes, Murgh dishes, lamb dishes, and vegetarian dishes, like the Gobhi Gulzar — Cauliflower florets cooked with small cubes of tomato, capsicum, coriander and fresh spices-. Prices are reasonable, the food is delicious, and there’s free home delivery on orders over £12.
