This one of those discount shops you’ll find in most ‘sub’ high streets. Perfectly at home in London Road, Partytime stocks a varying assortment of stationery, greetings card and a ‘mish mash’ of discount gifts. While in there I picked up a set of High School Musical glitter pens for 79p, a novelty mug for £1.39 and a A3 padded envelope for 55p. This is an extremely useful shop, if you have the time and energy, you can find a treasure trove of items that few other places could sell. The owners are friendly and helpful, for that you should certainly ignore likes of poundland and head on over to Partytime.

Partytime is a very busy, slightly chaotic but somehow incredibly useful shop. Head here for any kind of party goods — cards, balloons, candles — anything for either a child or adult party can be found here. In particular, they have goods for particular seasonal celebrations — I finally found some halloween zombie make up here after searching many other shops without sucess — I’ll come here 1st next time. A very good place for birthday cards in particular, with many under £1.

This place does what it says on the tin and then some… it really is party central! It’s full of the most amazing amount of celebration tat you could ever imagine! I’m talking banners, balloons, party bags, wrapping paper, party poppers, confetti… you get the idea. They take partying pretty seriously in this joint– whatever you ask for, guaranteed they’ll dig around and find it for you. Halloween? Christmas? Hanukkah? New Year? Whatever the festivity, you can get some plastic tack to help you celebrate. Enthusiasm sure is the name of the game. And it is always so packed! Who knew that the residents of London Rd were secretly busy decorating their homes with streamers and glittery birthday banners all the week long? Aside from the fact that Partytime is gaudy and a bit strange, it is also fairly useful and very cheap. I have twice recently found myself in need of coloured tissue paper, and guess who has a great selection at a price you can’t argue with?

Ok, I know it’s just a cheap little tacky market but t actually has an amazing selection of stuff at a fraction of the price. Don’t bother with Sussex Stationers across the road — you can get it all here and cheap too.

One of my few obsessive compulsions is a need to have a notepad and pen within inspiration’s grasp ad infinitum. Should I find them absent from my person, I loathe paying a premium for what I consider to be two of man’s most essential of essentials. Thankfully, ‘Partytime’ has very good quality items of stationery at extremely reasonable prices; most things are under a £1. The spectrum of goods available covers everything from wrapping paper, project files and diaries to balloons, greetings cards and colouring books. And it’s all really accesible because of the genius glassless shopfront. The aforementioned pen’n’pad came in at 60p. Go stationery wild. Seriously.
