As embarrassing as it seems in retrospect, when we first moved here and had no kitchen we got our dinners here practically every night with the excellent«happy hour» 2-for-1 deal that they use to clean out whatever is left over at the end of the day. Once happy hour kicks in, they close as soon as they sell out, so you really do need to get there right as it ticks over. We tried a number of different pasties over time(luckily it’s not always the same ones left over) and you know what? These are just really good pasties. I’m not even mad that I had to live off of them for so long, and I’d go back even now that I have a kitchen if pasties in general weren’t just so bad for you haha. They had a lot of really creative flavors, but I still always found myself going back to the«original»(and of course, the large sized one at that!). A must if you like pasties, or are on a budget :)

Though this was only the third pasty I’d ever tried in my life, it was definitely the best. The crust was wonderfully flaky and the filling was filling(ba dum tss) as well as flavorful and delicious. I had the Thai vegetable pasty and my friend had the cheese and onion, and both had delicious improvements to the typical pasty, with a nice amount of heat with the Thai and a really beautiful flavor of cheese with the C&O. We also shared a slice of the raspberry cheesecake and the raspberry filling had real raspberries, and I could eat the crust on its own. Overall, I would definitely recommend this store with it’s wide range if flavors, friendly staff, and delicious desserts.

Tiny little hole-in-the-wall. The traditional was good, but I enjoyed the chicken one a bit more since they use bechamel sauce in the pasty. Scrumptious! Come hungry, because these delectable doughy and flaky friends are filling and it’s too good to waste a bite. Keep in mind, they’re served piping hot, so take it easy… don’t burn those taste buds.

It *might* have something to do with the fact that I left my pasty in the fridge overnight, but I wasn’t too impressed with the vegetable. The pastry was pretty good– actually, impressively good, considering it was microwaved. And they do a 2-for-1 deal in the evenings after 6.

Came back here on my most recent trip to Brighton. I had refused to eat a pasty from anywhere but here and it was well worth the wait. The veggie pasty is so peppery, flakey and amazing. I can’t think of anything wrong with this place. I have been told by locals that it is pricey but whatevs. Worth every penny. I did buy a victorian lemonade there that tasted a bit like stomach acids haha but it is the same flavor one would expect from kombucha

As redolent of their origins as Cornish wrestling and the Mummers Plays, the pies and pasties on sale here are the product of Ian Baldry’s one-man mission to bring the flavour of the West Country to the people of East Sussex. Whether you opt for the classic potato, swede, onion, beef and black pepper combo or the contemporary Thai vegetable — mixed vegetables and pulses in coconut milk, with lemon grass in a spicy thai curry sauce you can be sure of packing in sufficient carb content to power you through the most hectic of days. If you are visiting the Gardner Street outlet and have got time on your hands, take a pew outside and entertain yourself by trying to guess the number of piercings on the customers coming out of Punktured on the other side of the street. And before you leave, be sure to check whether boss’s mood has changed from ‘chipper’ to ‘still chipper’… must be the coffee.

Two minutes from Brighton Station, this branch of Our Cornish Pasty Shop is a great place to pick up something to eat on the way to or from the train. As well as an assortment of different meat and veggie pasties, they also sell fresh porridge and museli for breakfast, baguettes and panninis for lunch and cakes and flapjacks for afternoon snacks. All hot drinks including americano, latte, espresso, hot chocolate and tea come in two sizes and are half price before 10am on select days. If you’re not in a rush, there’s also a couple of benches outside the shop and a small selection of seating inside. The staff in this branch usually seem friendly and upbeat too.

Having just written a pretty glowing review for the West Cornwall pasty company, I have to say this place does just beat it. They’ve got a great range of flavours, almost too many as it’s too hard to decide, so I ended up going for the standard ‘traditional’. I wasn’t disappointed — the filling was tasty and the pastry perfect, the right mix of flake and stodge. They do have other stuff here too — sandwiches, paninis — but I can’t imagine I’ll ever get past the pasties to try them.

Not bad pasties, and I’m willing to give the Traditional Cornish a shot. I frequented this humble little Pasty establishment last week, after some Unilocalage around town. The smell of Pasty playfully wafted around my nose, and suddenly everything made sense. I was to buy a pasty there and then. So I stepped into the shop, and deliberated for about 10 minutes, and ended up buying a limited edition Christmas pasty. This included Cranberry sauce, Turkey and Stuffing. If i’d of had some grown up foresight I would have said to myself, «no Jack, that’s simply too ambitious a pasty, and although you like all of those flavours, will they really work in a pastry filling? No… just have a good old fashioned Traditional Cornish Pasty. Well done.» But I didn’t, and like a greedy schoolboy I gobbled up the rather funky tasting Pasty in a few minutes. Too much for me, but I liked what they were trying. Anyway next time I’ll go for the Traditional, but until then I’ll have to give it 3 stars.

Our Cornish Pasty Shop, a Brighton-based business with another branch on Queen’s Road, provides decent, wholesome pasties. Like cornish pasty, peppered steak, chicken tikka, sausage rolls, veggie ones and they even make their own vegan ones! They do free delivery too, with a branded bike you may see around the city. The Somerset born owner is a bit of a pastry expert it seems, also owning I’s Pies up the road. Pasties are hot without being sogged up by a microwave, and good prices at £1.55 — £3.15. Being from Somerset myself, a bit of wholesome pastry goodness always goes down well and these are no exception, in fact the best I’ve had in Brighton!

You can take the girl out of the West Country but you can’t take the West Country out of the girl. Like Tasha S., I too am a Somerset lass and it takes a lot to impress me, pasty-wise. I’d say my grandma probably makes the best pasties in Devon, but I suppose I’m biased… I often find that shop-bought pasties are a bit of a let down, too-thick pastry filled with lots of potato and not enough of anything else. This was not my experience of Our Cornish Pasty Shop. I went for a classic steak pasty and it quite literally knocked my socks off! The meat was tender, the pastry was just the right consistency… watch out granny, you’ve got new competition! The range of pasties is just right… not so many that you’re left confused, but enough that you aren’t left with a simple meat or veggie decision. I’m a bit scared of some of the more unusual ones, like Chicken Tikka… I am of the opinion that a pasty should stick to the original rules! The shop itself is nice, the staff friendly and they have a few tables outside. This is the best place to go if you want a little piece of the West Country in Brighton!

Being a West Country lass I’m over familiar with pasties, That said I am often taken to ‘Our Pasty Shop’ by my boyf who cant get enough. The pasties are authentic and varied, offering an array of traditional fillings… steak and Stilton, cheese and onion, along side more modern ones like curry. Its great to have a taste of home in the city and the location right the North i great for people watching.

This is a really friendly pastry shop, with great staff, that stocks some nice, reasonably priced pasties of various flavours. A pasty here costs about £2.75, but if you order one after 7pm it’s buy one get one free. Other products, such as coffee, and some drink items such as Ginger Bear and Victorian Lemonade, are also available.

This is a much better source of Cornish Pastiness than the West Cornwall chain– the pastry on these hot demilunes of loveliness is much lighter, crispier, and the fillings are tastier and fresher. The prices are very nicely the same! I’m vegetarian and can wholly recommend their vegetable filling– not just run of the mill veg but some more traditional turnip and some exciting veg in there too. If you are an early riser or work nearby they do a great coffee deal where you buy one before ten and get another free– good coffee too. On a cold day, a dreary day or a really busy day, I love treating myself to a really satisfying pasty without spending more than a few pounds.

The butter crusted pasties of Cornwall. Reminds of the much larger curry puff or empanada. But the crust is thicker. The pasties are baked not fried. Love the traditional pasty the best. It’s filled with beef steak, potato, onion and swede. And just some sprinkle of peppers. Comes with different sizes to fit your appetite. They have vegetarian and vegan pasties. I tried the vegan, while Thai filling is nice but the crust is better when it’s done the traditional way. They also serve coffee, tea, bottled sodas and hot chocolate. I didn’t explore the breakfast menu or their sweet desserts. One pasty was big enough to fill me up. Great for people who needs a quick bite without paying too much.
