This restaurant is tucked in between largerr buildings, if your sight isn’t too great, you might struggle to see La Florentina. I think this is at the heart of much of the problems that you might encounter here. Service is slow and a bit cumbersome, but that is hardly surprising given that at 8 o’clock, I was the only person eating here. The staff are friendly, and the food is perfectly ok, if not unspectacular. In a better location, with bigger demand, I would imagine much of the problems here would be gone.

I’ve lived and worked in Italy quite a bit so might be a bit biased but I’ve always found Italian cuisine to rely on good produce cooked in a simple but excellent way. When we visited La Florentina, we were greeted by a friendly waiter but after sitting down, he took ages to take our drinks orders. We’d decided on only having a main course by then as the starters didn’t look that interesting but he darted off before we could order the food. I had a simple carbonara which was ok but a bit too creamy and my wife had a quattro stagione pizza which she said was really nice. Price wise it was pretty reasonable but we didn’t eat that much really. I wouldn’t recommend taking a first date there as you may not get a second one!

I had walked past this restaurant a million times but never thought to go in until a friend recommended it. I’ve only been there the one time but would definitely recommend it. The restaurant looks nothing special from the outside –and indeed nothing special on the inside — but the atmosphere inside was so welcoming that all of this could be overlooked. The menu was lovely and more traditional than a lot of the rival italian chains in the area. I had a pasta dish which was cooked perfectly — and portion sizes were large. The prices were reasonable. It’s well worth giving this restaurant a chance. I’d definitely can’t wait to go back.
