Expo is a bit disastrous on the present front, it looks like it should have some exciting bits and pieces but on closer inspection it does not look much better than Clinton cards. For this reason my main intention when I go here is to buy frames, which they do have in abundance ready made — only thing is, they are not particularly good quality, the finishes are either dull or a bit tired and if you want something to size its not that much cheaper than going to a traditional framers of which there are plenty nearby. If you are in a rush to buy frames for an exhibition or something, give it a go, but don’t expect to be overwhelmed by what is on offer.

Ever wondered what happened to Athena? I’ve no idea either but Expo seem to have picked up where they left off. Disappointingly, there doesn’t seem to be any posters of the iconic Man and Baby — and yes, that’s a hint of sarcasm in my voice — but there are hundreds of other posters and art prints from Marilyn Monroe and Angelina Jolie to The Beatles and Nirvana. There’s also abstract and psychadelic prints, flower and landscape prints and brash ones featuring cartoon characters like The Simpsons and South Park. The pop art theme continues throughout the store with a wide selection of bright and colourful novelty gifts like tee-shirts, mugs, mousemats, rubber ducks, cards and wrapping paper. I’m sure there are lots of people who enjoy looking and buying this kind of stuff. If anyone ever buys me something from Expo however, I’ll take it as a sign they really don’t know me!

Expo is full of colourful prints and other homewares — some useful, others less so. The window display is full of prints, many of them brightly coloured geometric type designs, all looking very modern. There’s a good selection of frames as well. If you’re looking for a fun present, there’s lots on offer here too — with mugs, novelty books and toys. Like most of these kind of places, it’s probably a little overpriced, but this isn’t somewhere you come for practicality.

Expo is one of those fun shops to look through if you need to kill some time without leaving Churchill Square. It’s slightly less fun during the post-Christmas sales, but perhaps the lower prices make up for the busy-ness? The shop has a large selection of greeting cards, gift bags and wrap; plus tonnes of gift ideas to be wrapped … or bagged. Some items: mugs, collectible dolls(Beatles, those Russian stacking dolls), money pots and piggy banks, picture frames, large wall posters, clocks(unique ones made with eating utensils and tiny picture frames), stuffed toys, rugs, mirrors, and other basic home décor. There’s a large area at the bag filled with paintings — framed or unframed, and some on canvas — for fairly decent prices. Images range from celebrity icons to famous skylines in black and white or colour. So, a fun shop for gift ideas or light home furnishings.

Expo is a large shop situated in Brighton’s busy Churchill Square shopping centre. It sells a plethora of different posters and prints, many of which look very cool, and sport interesting or funky designs. The prices of both are ok, without being anything to boast about, and I was tempted by a number of the items on offer. As well as the aforementioned, you’ll find cards, mugs, piggybanks, wrapping paper, cuddly toys, novelty items, doormats, tshirts, toilet ducks, hair clips, and other such random objects.
