Dinner2Go

My partner and I ordered from Dinner2go a couple of days ago, after I got home quite late from a trip away and couldn’t bear the thought of cooking.
Now there are other websites and apps where you can order from local takeaways (which I do use) but Dinner2go is special in that it pretty much delivers from any restaurant in Brighton! So If you fancy your favourite meal out but can’t be bothered to leave the house, it’s perfect.
The website works fine, if a little clunky but it does the job alright!
We ordered from Pompoko — it’s the opposite side of town to us, and they don’t do delivery so ordering through dinner2go was perfect. The food arrived within an hour and the delivery driver was very polite and friendly.
I’d probably use dinner2go again on those days where I want to eat out but can’t be bothered — my other half certainly will as I’m out of town a lot and he can’t/won’t cook!

In theory dinner2go would be great. Takeout from good restaurants delivered straight to your door. In practice it’s not working at all. When they were still pretty new they tried hard and would always deliver within 30 – 45 minutes. Recently however their service has deteriorated very quickly and it is now impossible to get anything delivered in under 1 hour 15 min. This has now happened to me three times in a row on all kinds of weekdays and the excuse is always that they are exceptionally busy. If you are constantly exceptionally busy you need to hire more staff, in their case more drivers. Simple but dinner2go seems too busy trying to make money. So for me that unfortunately is that and today was the last time I ordered food from dinner2go. The fact that the people who pick up the phone when I try to find out where my food is always appear to think they are doing me a favour delivering my food and so I can just wait however long it takes is just the final straw. The only reason I am not giving them 1 star is because their drivers are always very nice.

Dinner2Go is an absolutely brilliant service for Brightonians: order food from ANY restaurant in town through them, they will pick it up and deliver it straight to your door! Sounds too good to be true? It is a very expensive alternative to going out, but some nights you just want to slouch in front of your TV, eating really brilliant food, and this way you don’t have to rely on rubbish take-​out either!
When I say any restaurant above, that does jack the price up VERY high indeed: use with caution. I’d recommend using the restaurants already on their list, they do have some all time favourites: El Taco, Oki-​Nami, China Garden…
Ordering is simple, the service is great, and the food is normally out to you within an hour, unless they are exceptionally busy. For the lazy Brightonian this is the perfect alternative to going out, and you can still enjoy all of your favourite dishes! The only real issue is the price: it is prohibitively expensive to order from a restaurant not on their list, and even without that you are paying quite the sum for a delivery.
However, in a lazy, moneyed moment, there is nothing better than ordering something really good, not a delivery nightmare from somewhere that doesn’t cook decent food. See if they have your favourite: check out the website, and have a lazy evening tonight.
