I would rather go to Marwood on the side of Coho, but Coho is a nice option. Just be careful with the seagulls if you stay outside.

Love! I don’t have anything negative to say which is rare. I only have suggestions maybe if they read this it will take them further? One: table numbers! I suggestion using table numbers instead of name or maybe both — it won’t hurt to use colours as well whatever suits you. Take a little bit of the rush off the employees :-) //two: leave me here corner. Put a corner for your costumers to put dirty plates and cups after they finish to leave room for the second order or the next costumer or in my case(get away from the eggs as much as possible). This is a hipster/ish area, I bet your costumer base will be down for it, and also it will take some work loads from your employees and people will be happy because of how tiny your tables are. Wish you all the best !! I’ll visit them again for sure.

This is one of my go to spots because they always have a really yummy gluten free cake available, which seems to change up fairly frequently. I’ve also had breakfast here. It’s just a good, cute all-around nice café. The staff have always been really nice and friendly. It can be a bit hard to predict a good time to go. I’ve been when it’s really busy, and when it’s just been myself and a friend to the whole top floor. It gets a nice breeze in the summer and with retro music playing it really is the perfect place to unwind after a bit of shopping.

Met a friend and her baby here for brunch. We both had eggs benedict which was delicious. Coffee was also quick and strong which we appreciated. They do have high chairs here for kids but it can get cramped. Food prices are also reasonable.

I write this review as I’m currently sat in the Ship Street branch of Café Coho. This one is slightly busier than the café Coho by the train station as its in town. I ordered my usual, a soya flat white(extra hot!) and to my delight it was spot on. I was a little apprehensive about coming to Coho again after last time, my coffee was too weak and I had to ask for more espresso. This one was perfect, I’m glad I’ve given Coho another chance. I also had a naughty treat of a chocolate and hazelnut blonde… Sweet, delicious and chewy! Perfect with my flat white!

When I arrived in Brighton I spotted their other branch near Brighton Railway Station. Then when I stumbled in this one in Ship Street I decided to try it, for my first meal in this city because had read the good review that Kerry G. made about it. The place was really busy but I managed to find a free table outside and spent several minutes looking at the menu and I couldn’t decide what to eat as everything sounded so appealing. After making up my mind I chose the falafel, olives and feta on flat bread and an orange juice. The staff seemed really friendly, because you order at the counter but they bring it to your table. My lunch was yummy. Not a super meal, more like a quick bite for lunch but was quite good and the falafel wasn’t too crunchy and hard as I experienced before. I decided to not stay for coffee as I wanted to try some other cafés but overall the place was a really good choice for lunch. Nice décor with a few tables to have a seat outside in the sun, pleasant staff, free wifi and a good spot for people-watching(my favourite sport!!).

This is such a perfect little place to work away in peace, with a nice coffee, that I’m slightly afraid to review it… On one hand, I’d like to spread the word about this little gem of a café but on the other, I’d very much like to keep this little haven all to myself!!! :D There are a few Café Cohos dotted about Brighton, but this one is by far my favourite. Nestled in the lanes, tucked away in a great people-watching spot, this particular Café Coho has such a great atmosphere about it. The staff are very genuinely friendly and eager to help, the coffee is great(as is the cake) and, best of all, they have a cute and quiet little upstairs area that not everyone’s aware of — making it the perfect spot to go and work in absolute peace. Beyond the smooth, old school tunes playing in the background and the occasional sound of passers by, the upstairs seating area is very mellow. Big comfy chairs, proper tables and great wifi, endeavour to keep you there all day long, topping up on the café’s treats as you go along. I enjoyed a cheese and ham breakfast croissant, a coffee and a sparkling water — all relished casually over a few hours of work. There’s no urgency to leave here — you’re not constantly being hounded to finish up and leave or spend all of your money. The staff let you lounge and work, without hassle, which is a great attribute indeed. I haven’t tried the lunches here, but I have no doubt that I will at some stage! If they’re anything like the quality of the food and drink I have sampled, they’ll be lovely. All in all, I’d say this is a real find. I think I’ll be a regular in here, for sure!

Café Coho is one of my new favourite coffee spots. Providing you can grab a table(other people have cottoned on to this place too) it’s definitely the kind of digs that deliver the goods. These days(in me old age!) I’ve got to be quite careful with my caffeine intake and usually can’t really drink coffee past 12pm, so with this in mind, if I treat myself — I’ve got to make it a good one! The flat whites here are heavenly and VERY strong. You know those lethal cocktails that are so easy to drink but end up getting you sloshed? A similar principle applies here. The coffee is full of flavour and kick but creamy, so I unwittingly underestimated it and slurped down 2. Whoops. For the rest of the day and still past 11pm I felt like I’d been partying with the gangsters of Columbia. Whoosh. Don’t bother with drugs kids just pop down to Café Coho yeah? Much cheaper. So the coffee’s delicious but be warned! Go easy. Moving on to the CAIIIKE! Brownie lovers getcho derrières down here! Oush! It’s very close to being the best brownie I’ve tasted. Serious. The rest of the selection are also out of this world. I haven’t tried the sarnies or other savoury options but it all looks mouth wateringly good. Service is fairly decent but as I say it can get über busy so you may sometimes be waiting a wee while. That’s the only reason it won’t be getting the full five stars — cos sometimes I can’t get into the damn place!

I’ve only ever had an Americano here but the coffee is STRONG(if you like that sort of thing) and the food always looks delicious. Will need to come back to grab a bite! The one near Brighton station also has train times listed on a screen so you can have a coffee and not miss your train! Cool.

Pretty good. Lovely coffee. Slightly overtoasted slicey-in-the-mouth toast. Slightly overdone poached eggs. Decent massive sausages. Good bacon. A good old place to go, but not fantabulous. Nearly, but not quite, the fourth star. Very, very, Brighton and very nice.

The best mocha in town by a mile! Also, the cakes are DELICIOUS! Who makes them?

Lovely sandwich. Lovely coffee. Shame they weren’t served at the same time. How hard is it to make coffee? The 3 women at the table next to me had their coffees served one at a time, about 5 minutes apart from eachother! Think I will go back to the Marwood next time.

My first visit so I asked for their speciality they were good as they asked what sort of coffee I liked. I said Black Americano’s but I wanted something different, so I got a Mocha and it was good. But Mocha’s are not my speciality so I’m going back again to try the Long Black. Sandwiches and food looks fab. I had a doughnut(lunchtime) and it was dry, hence the mark down. BUT I’m going back!

Newish coffee shop. Fast becoming my daily stop off for caffeine on the way to work. Beautifully designed — kind of rustic looking. They have the usual loyalty card scheme ie buy 9, get the 10th free. Unusual, but a clever idea is that they offer to hang on to your loyalty card for you in a box behind the counter for those who are prone to loosing it … Attentive and frendly staff who more often that not remember what your order. What more could you ask for? Thumbs up from me.

Really surprised to read the good reviews! I think the place is awful! Terrible coffee, and far too pretentious(and let’s face it, there’s enough of that in Brighton already! I always opt for The Marwood(right next door!) if I’m in The Lanes, or Naked Tea and Coffee place for tea(never coffee!!). Excellent coffee at The Marwood(and if you call nero/starbucks/costa beverages«coffee», then think again!!), really chilled, quirky atmosphere, and awesome garden out the back, with street art/graffiti all over the place… oh and free wifi, and awesome cakes/toasties,

Was really disappointed by the fact that their ‘pancake stack with bacon and maple syrup’ actually didn’t contain a scrap of real maple syrup, but a cheap syrup flavoured with maple — not the same, and quite nauseating. Bad move, guys — what a let down. Makes it seem as though you think your customers are stupid, and wouldn’t notice? Otherwise, this place is lovely — great décor, quick service, the other food we had was nice, etc. But when there are so many other fab cafes to choose from, it seems a shame to be so let down by a fib on the menu on our first visit!

Relaxed service? Check. Really friendly staff? Check. Excellent tea? Check. Situated not too far from the beach, not too far from North Street Café Coho is rapidly becoming one of my favourite new places to sit with a cup of tea and watch the world go by, catch-up with friends or set business meetings. Combined with free wifi(which I didn’t know was available), a wide selection of hot/cold, sweet & savoury menu items and drinks, what’s not to like? You can tell service is excellent when the baristas remember the first order you ever made the second time you come in. Be prepared for a friendly, no-worries atmosphere. Speaking of excellent, a brand of tea keeps appearing around Brighton that I’m slowly growing fond of called ‘Tea Pigs’. I was confused when I first heard about it mistaking it for a teapot of sorts however you’ll be pleased to know it’s an ultra fresh variety of tea which comes in many varieties(superfruit, peppermint, redbush etc.,) not just your typical everyday breakfast tea. Irritatingly, the prices are rather steep(a tiny cookie in a jar for 50p?), small brownies for over £2.20 they also sell a variety of breakfast items, likewise boasting steep prices.(That might be because I’m a poor student though.) First impressions great. Lasting impressions even better. See you tomorrow.

Dropped in by chance here on 8th March and just had a couple of capuccinos. Was moved to come here and review because the coffee was simply sensational. We’re both keen on our coffee and regulars at some of the chains(Caffe Nero our favourite) and independents when we can both at home and abroad. My wife stated that her coffee was the best she had ever had(that includes Italy and France). I probably wouldn’t disagree. It was not what you’d call a dry capuccinno(i.e. not an inch of airy foam on top with coffee underneath), but the foam layer was mixed with a lovely crema from their Gaggia and tasted smooth and creamy from top to bottom of the cup. The coffee has real depth to its flavour as well. Our only regret is that we already had lunch plans or we would have sampled their delicious looking paninis and pastries.
