It’s now closed down because of drugs and fighting

The Bevendean is not somewhere I’d go regularly to say the least! It’s a standard old man’s pub, attracting middle aged men and women who still think they’re young… there’s nothing wrong with being young-​spirited, but at 50, you shouldn’t still be wearing that denim skirt and a pot full of foundation really should you? This image neatly reflects the atmosphere of the Bevendean; rowdy at the weekend, full of men trying to buy young girls drinks, and old women making a fool of themselves because they still think they’ve ‘got it’. I have actually been here once during the week for a quick drink as it is nearby to where I live (unfortunately), and it wasn’t as bad, apart from the fact that my friends and I were actually the only people in there. The landlord was drunk and let us choose some music from the juke box for free, there’s a pool table so we played pool, had one drink and left!
If you want to go somewhere classy for a fresh glass of wine, I can honestly say the Bevendean is the opposite of this. It’s not the pub’s fault, it’s the area. It attracts a stereotypical unmannered and rowdy crowd. The interior isn’t anything special either, it’s not hideous but if they wanted to they could turn it into something a lot brighter and make it seem smarter, but I can understand that they may not really see the point! If you’re a regular at this pub, good for you. Otherwise, take my advice and give it a miss!
