The beach café stocks everything you need for a day on the beach, obviously it’s not the cheapest place to grab a snack, its on the beach, but if your not a Brighton resident you may not have packed up your entire kitchen, made a tent out of tissue paper and cocktail sticks and prepared a whole pig to roast on the rocks. If not, get your ice creams, panninis, soft drinks, hot drinks and sweet things here. The beach is packed out in the Summer and you will need energy to work your way through the crowds, this place is handy and right off the pier on your way to the beach.

This is a perfect spot for an infusion of freshly ground coffee, grilled paninis and brownies etc. They have healthy food for kids, as well as a range of Innocent smoothie drinks. It’s opposite the kids playground near the West Pier and so it can be pretty noisy during the weekend and you’ll find yourself nudging past prams, dogs and bodies all queuing for some of the tasty fare. Week days it’s open and much quieter. There’s just enough room to sit down and take in the cosy New England theme of driftwood, rope and clapboard interior in powdery Nantucket blues ands greys. The staff here are always lovely; there’s the chap who loves Dylan music, the fey and smily Japanese girl and another bloke who’s always pleasant.

Other people visit the Beach House Café for a quick coffee and snack. Maybe a grilled pannini & a preservative-free brownie washed down with a cup of black coffee? Or a hot cheese and ham toastie & a wheat-free lemon drizzle cake followed by elderflower cordial? Me? I always go for the same things: Warming Green & Blacks hot chocolate on cold mornings and windy winter afternoons & delicious mango & raspberry frozen yoghurt on beautifully sunny days when I can’t resist soaking up the rays and walking along the beach.
