W H Smith

Smiths is usually my last resort for books as they are quite expensive, however, they do often have special offers on and they do have a big selection for a smallish shop. If you can;t find the book you want then they will order it which is quite nice, but its be full price so you will probably find it cheaper elsewhere.

Always a steady flow of customer in this Smith’s, which is located in the Kirkgate Market in the middle of town. I always find this place to be pretty expensive and there are definitely cheaper options around. What I like about it though is they have a great selection of books. Whenever I go in I tend to grab a newspaper and book as well. They sometimes have offers on too, usually around Christmas time so be sure to look out for them. I never seem to have to queue here but it always seems to be busy, it’s pretty strange that way.

This was the smaller of the two branches of WHSmiths in Bradford city centre but now is the only one. You could be forgiven for thinking it is actually two shops. On the top floor you will find DVDs, games and CDs. The till here is usually quiet and the shop generally empty. Downstairs it is a whole different story.
On the ground floor you will find stationery, office supplies and their vast selection of books. There is two sets of tills downstairs and the ones at the front of the store are exceptionally busy, often queueing into the book aisles.
The staff are friendly and helpful but the store is somewhat disorganised, for instance they have shelves of books behind the smaller till, hard for a customer to reach.
Their book prices are reasonable but I think a lot of their stationery and office supplies are expensive.

This branch of WH Smiths is in the Kirgate centre and is always busy, consequently there are usually long queues at the tills. It is nicely spaced out and has a good selection of products, however it is a little confusing to have all the DVDs upstairs and this could be easy to miss.

This is a very busy store and being the only one in bradford now im not surprised. The store is over two floors with the cds, dvds, etc upstairs and the stationary, magazines, newspapers, cards and gifts, craftwork, books, etc downstairs. They have a very vast variety of all things and they also stock pc accessories and oldfashioned parker pens and the like. They have a cashpoint machine inside the store and also a lottery machine. They have a special till for where you can order books and collect them when they are in. The staff are lovely and friendly and will help you find whatever you are looking for. The store is vast and very clean and tidy, it does get a bit jumbled after people have read through stuff and just put them back anyway but usually it is tidy and well stocked. They also have a small stock of pop and confectionary.

This branch of Smiths is located inside the Kirgate center and easy to find. On the days that I have visited the shop has been rather busy. Each time I have purchased something I have had to wait in a que for more than ten minutes. They only have 2 members of stafff serving on the tills which is not enough to deal with the amount of customer that they get.
They do sell a variety of things in the shop but the shelfs can be very unorganised espcially where the magazines are kept.
I have not had to ask the staff a question so do not know how friendlt they are.
