It’s hard to get excited about a bowling alley, and if it is this one then it is just that little bit harder. It’s the standard bowling alley situation, there are a few pool tables, air hockey tables and various arcade games dotted about as you walk in. There is a bland but inoffensive bar area and 25 or so lanes for bowling. You can get food or drinks brought to your lane which is good but the general appearance of the bowling area is seriously lacklustre. There are a few strings of sorry looking fairly lights running horizontally above the lanes, half of them don’t work and they look like some sort of afterthought. The far right wall looks like someone has taken a sledgehammer to it at some point and the overall feel is of a place which could do with a bit of freshening up. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like an afternoon in Helmand Province or anything. You can turn up, knock down pins and go away happy. It’s just not the classiest bowling alley I’ve ever seen. 2 adults, 2 games cost me £21

This place is truly disappointing, always filled with way to under dressed under age chavs courting their older boyfriends. Advertises lane service, but your more likely to have your drinks delivered by angels dressed as sheep.

I really enjoyed going here, it had the bowling alley and the bar which was behind it and a café as well which was behind it. I found the food to be pretty average and expensive to boot. I did enjoy playing bowling here though, it can get so busy with kids and that in the summer it is a nightmare. Better to go in the evenings or during the day when the kids are at school. Always had loud music on which was always good to liven up the mood.

Pros This bowling alley has lots of features to recommend it, with an on-site bar and café, and it is located close to the town centre, cinema and restaurants as well as a large car park. There are plenty of lanes to use so you can almost always get a lane without waiting. Cons The bar does mean that other customers can get a little rowdy, and prices are a little high.

Having been assigned to wait for a full 60 minutes for a meal at Frankies and Bennies me and my girlfriend opted to venture in. The arcades are very extensive and cater for the casual and technological impressive experiences. Staff were helpful and willing to exchange change, moreover the bowling appeared to be cheap. I will certainly be coming back for a game.

Hollywood Bowl is quite a nice bowling alley, as well the lanes there is also a café, an arcade and a bar so its quite a well rounded place with things to do for both kids and adults. There are plenty of lanes and normally its not too busy except sometimes on the weekends so best to book lanes. Sometimes they seem quite short staffed and you have to wait a while whilst one person sells the lanes and also sorts out the shoes but its not normally too bad. The bar is also semi stand alone so if you don’t feel like bowling you can just go and sit in the bar, it is a little bit expensive but its quite nice and there is music, also a pick your own music juxebox type machine. There are also over 18 slot machines in the bar. The toilets and the café are normally very clean and the whole place is quite well maintained :)

Nice place to take the kids, there is an arcade section that will keep them entertained while waiting to bowl. Always clean. Can get really busy in school holidays like most places. There is a bar area which does not allow kids in. Only bad thing to say about this place is the music is really really loud at all times of day! Hard to have a conversation.
