I had no clue this Waterstones was here! In fact, I don’t remember how I stumbled across it, but I am glad I did. They have a nice selection of books with a children’s section at the back. It was quite busy and can get a bit cramped in certain parts of the store. It is pretty easy to find what you need, but the staff are quite friendly and there are plenty of them around to help. I did notice that there is another floor, which includes a Costa Coffee. Nice if you can’t wait to start reading the book you just purchased or… just need to duck in because it is raining and you need some place to dry off. I was hoping they would have a section of stocking stuffers like one of the other locations, but they didn’t. However, I did come away with some books on special that will probably act as stocking stuffers!

Staying on a fiction tip, this branch of Waterstones is the best bookshop in Bolton. Spread over two floors, it’s a clean and well laid out shop with recommended books laid out on tables as well as floor to ceiling shelves. There’s sections devoted to food and drink, travel, health, fitness, education, history, art and biography but my favourite section has to be the fiction. Alongside classic novels and reprints, there’s a big selection of new and recent, contemporary novels like Colm Toibin’s Brooklyn and Sadie Jones’ The Outcast. Right now, the shop has £2-£3 off novels that have been adapted into Golden Globe winning movies, like Julie Powell’s Julie and Julia and Sapphire’s life-affirming Push*. * Push has been made into a film called Precious starring Gabourey Sidibe as the 16 year old protagonist.
