Ended up here after visiting Wing Yip(which is attached) whilst visiting Birmingham with work. I had a spare hour to kill so decided instead of my usual grab and go lunch I would have a sit down for a change. It is a very large restaurant. You can choose between a buffet or al a carte — I opted for a buffet as I was starving. Overall the buffet and service were good(especially for the price — under a tenner for a buffet and coke) but I can’t really give any higher than 3 stars as it was nothing special and didn’t really offer any more than any other chinese buffet I have been to. I would return if i’m in the area but doubt I would go out of my way to visit here.

A victim of its own success. Way too busy now to be pleasant. Too crowded. Too many tables. Too few waiters. A dining experience comparable to a soup kitchen. OK food but not good enough to justify it’s cost. Dim Sum and a la carte actually better value than the gluttony experience of the buffet, where half the customers would genuinely benefit from speaking to a psychologist and gastric banding. Avoid weekend lunchtime 12−3pm and every evening 6−8pm when it’s likely you’ll be standing a while waiting for a table unless you’ve got a reservation.

Wing Wah is a great Chinese buffet, based in Nechells it’s a little out of my way and I would be more likely to go to one of the excellent buffets in the city, but when I came here the food was so good it deserves a good review. The outside of the building and the décor are a little over the top, so much so that you might think you are going to an oriental theme park! It’s fairly reasonably priced and they have a huge selection at the buffet, even picky vegetarians like me will find something. The staff were all pleasant too. It was really busy when I went so it might be advisable to book ahead. Give it a try if you are over that side of town.

This should be renamed; Wing Wah Wow! The wow factor starts as you arrive at the impressive building(take a look at the picture attached). You enter this restaurant through a beautifully carved Chinese Pagoda and you’re instantly transferred to the world of Chinese cookery. From tappenyaki to Yakitori, dim sum and barbeque grill this place has every imaginable Chinese dish. My friends and I have been using this place since it opened in 1998. The best way to enjoy Wing Wah’s is to opt for the buffet. This way you can experience every dish and you can keep filling your plate until you can eat no more, go on I dare you.

22 june part of 20 lunchtime I agree with the last couple of reviews food is dire but for only £6.95 what can you expect for that price quality of the meat is horrible everthing is deep fried you dont know whether you are going to bite on a piece of gristle but drinks were served promptly and clearing is very quick so all in all ok for a low price

Worst restaurant I have ever experienced! We had booked for 8 o’clock and arrived on time. We were kept waiting for 20 mins just inside the front door. People were queuing behind us and the queue went out the door so it was freezing. People behind us were seated before us! Eventually we were shown to a table. We weren’t offered a drink and we had to get a waitress to get our table waitress back to take our drink order. There was a really long queue at the food buffet as they had run out of plates and people had to wait. We waited for that queue to die down and then went up to get our food. Again they had run out of plates! They had practically no food. Nothing had been replenished and most of the food trays were empty. There wasn’t much choice either. We had put a few bits on our plate but decided at this point that it really wasn’t worth staying. Someone from the restaurant asked us what the problem was, so we explained that we had waited 20 mins in the cold, hadn’t been asked for a drink, there were no plates and hardly any food! He said ‘Well we are busy’. We just walked out and will never walk back in there again!

biggest, best tasting chinese buffet i’ve ever had. so much to choose from and it doesn’t taste like the usual buffet quality food. it didn’t look like the usual cheap slapped together chinese buffet food. it was like the kind you order in restaurants. the variety was ridiculous. they had everything you could want. of course with any buffet you’re going to come across foods you don’t like so don’t take this review to mean they’re perfect. the place was huge too so you can come with a group if you want. the service is good and the place was kept clean.

Situated out of town in Nechells, this is the attached restaurant for the Wing Yip supermarket in Brum. It serves rather good dim sum and yumcha special dishes as well as having an all you can eat buffet too. There’s also a steamboat«da bin lo» style buffet as well. Dim sum is ordered on the strip paper and the one is in Chinese but you can ask for an English version. The portions here too are suffering from credit crunch shrinkage. At times, you see more of the plate than the food but it’s still good.

This restaurant is situated next to the big Wing Yip supermarket in Nechells. It’s a bit dated now. The toilets are not very nice and feel grubby and not very clean I’m afraid. There are two parts to the place, the actual restaurant itself and then the buffet bit. If you like eat as much as you like dining, then this bit is for you! You’ll find a great selection of starters, mains and puddings. It’s very popular both at lunch and dinner times which is good as it means that the food doesn’t sit around for too long. Note that there are different prices depending when you dine. The restaurant is not very exciting but is popular as whenever I’ve been it’s full of people. Not the best Chinese food I’ve had. You’d only be here I think because of the supermarket as there are many better places to eat.
