To look at the Queen’s Arms’ exterior, you would expect the venue inside to be a darkened yet cosy traditional affair with antique wooden benches and a restored bartop sporting a vast array of real ale pumps. Instead, the interior is something a little more modern. It’s obvious the place was refurbished a while back, the effect of which I’m afraid takes a great deal away from the overall appeal. There are fruit machines and big screen televisions, making the place appear more like a modern chain pub than anything else. The drinks selection is fair, and the pub serves a selection of traditional pub grub, burgers and baguettes for some of the lowest prices you’ll be able to find in the area. Not a bad place to go if you’re in search of simple, good value food and drink.
