The O Bar

I’ve ended up in here a few times, from work and student nights out. I have to say it’s pretty underwhelming even if you’re drunk.
Don’t get me wrong, if you usually frequent broad street and want to thrust against strangers to the sounds of the ‘migraine skank’ (I kid you not, it’s a thing, google it at your own risk) then you’ll probably enjoy spending your time (and cash) here. (Unless you’re female in which case it seems you’ll drape yourself over any guy willing to slide you a jäger bomb.) Just watch out not to get your fake tan all over his Fred perry polo shirt as you drape!
The cocktails aren’t made with any sort of flair but they are served in the right glasses. House spirits are cheap and nasty which transfers into the cocktails. (20% vodka? No thanks.)
The dance floor is pretty small and doesn’t accommodate the people wanting to dance to poorly mixed garage and reggae tunes.
To sum up the class of the place, they have std testing kits given out with free sweets outside of the toilets. Seriously?

I quite like Obar, it’s not a very big venue considering it’s located on one of the busiest nightlife streets of Birmingham. But I find that both the staff members and bouncers are very friendly, humorous and more importantly, approachable. The music in there is great to dance to with all your friends, they also provide a wide seating area if you choose not to dance as well, which is great for lads and guys as well as girls that need to take a break from killer heels. I’d love for this venue to provide a warmer smoking area as well as an actual smoking area rather than just outside the front door on the main street. But as a nice niche and petite bar, I wouldn’t expect much from the venue. I do like the fact that they hand out so many vouchers that can benefit your night and experience at Obar, as these vouchers can provide free entry to five free Sambuca shots!

This place was busy when we called in and had to wait a while to be served drinks. The large TVs where blasting out some music video and overall it was quite a nice party like atmosphere.
There are a lot of choices on what to drink, I didn’t tempt myself to try their cocktails but they do have a decent selection. If you find you’ve had way too many, at least the taxi rank round the corner is only a short walk.
It’s quite busy after 5pm Friday and Saturday nights.

The décor in O Bar is a bit skewiff and I’m not entirely sure if I love it or hate it, however, their cocktails are bloody delicious and for an after work drink it is indeed A-​OK. I’d probably avoid it in the evenings and at weekends though unless you frequent Broad Street anyway; it’s a bit scary down there innit, with all them fake tans and screaming banshees?

Cheap and cheerful comes to mind when I think of O bar. But just because it’s cheap and cheerful doesn’t mean it doesn’t provide a good night out.
I’ve been here a few times, fuelled myself up on their strange, luminous selection of beverages and proceeded to stomp around on the dance floor like a boss (or madman) until the wee hours of the morning.
If you’re looking for a night out that includes tasteless amounts of drinking, decent music and a bit of flexing on the dance floor, then keep O bar in mind in case your night elsewhere doesn’t amount to all you thought it would.

went here last night for my 22^nd birthday celebrations. I seriously wish i hadnt bothered, the dj couldnt dj playing the same songs over and over yawn and 3 fights happened while the security just looked on. It was quite small but i thought that added a intimate feel.
The drinks are way too overpriced and the bartenders seved all the half naked girls 1^st which is just stupid. I will not be attending this bar again. simple… x

It is small but classy so get dressed up and enjoy a relaxing night with the chance to dance if you wish to.

Awful! We visit for a pre concert snack on Wednesday evening. We both had a glass of champagne but had to ask the bar staff not to put ice in it. It was quite busy as all the local restaurants were full due to the concert but how hard can it be to cook burger and chips. Lots of very upset customers due to orders being lost and the wrong food coming. We all have bad days but its how you deal with it and the staff didn’t seem to care.
