How on earth has Suizen’s got no reviews? Seriously… This place has saved mine and my husband hungry bellies on many an occasion in Selly Oak. Situated on the High Street, Suizen’s specialises in serving Chinese noodle based dishes at a very reasonable(student friendly) price. I don’t do a lot of takeaway, I never really have. It’s was a bit of a luxury that I just couldn’t afford when I was a student(and now I try to eat a little more healthily). I just about managed the occasional pizza before I met my then boyfriend who was based in Selly Oak. With Selly being student central, there are many fast food options based around the area but I would always opt for a Suizen’s when in need of a treat. The food is mainly Chinese, but there are a few Thai options on the menu. I always tend to opt for something with noodles(as it’s easy, cheap and filling), but if the other options are as tasty as these — then you’re in for a treat! There are also curry, chip and egg dishes on the pretty extensive menu too. There is a pretty reasonable selection of vegetarian on the menu and dishes range from £4(ish) up to nearly £6 for duck. Whenever we have visited our food has been cooked fresh(so expect about a five minute wait) and we have never had a problem with our order. The service is friendly and expect a small extra if you make a large order or if you are a regular customer. We actually love this place so much that even after we moved into the City Centre, we would still occasionally pop down for a Chinese. It’s not much to look at inside(so take out is recommended) and it’s not haute cuisine, but if you fancy something warm, tasty and filling which won’t break the bank, you won’t go far wrong with Suizen’s.
