As most of the restaurants on the Ladypool Road are bring your own booze, Popular Wines is a very aptly named off licence.
It’s well stocked for such a small offy, and perfectly located to pick up your drinks before heading for a curry. The staff there are pleasant enough.
There really isn’t much more to remark on, it does exactly what you need and not much more… not that you need it!

Popular Wines is not only favourably located between curry houses but also right next to a cash point so it’s incedibly well, popular!
The shop itself is quite small but it has a good selection of beverages and caters for both locals and the curry house regulars.
Prices are fair and service swift, and although it’s not the only off license on the Ladypool road it must be said that it’s easy to build up a rapport with the staff their, they are always very obliging.
Offering two drinks fridges and shelves full of the good stuff, Popular Wines is a fine choice to accompany your Ladypool road balti experience.
