Limelight Salons

Someone from my work recommended going to Limelight and having Emma cut my hair. She told me that since she has moved to Moseley she has only had Emma cut her hair and she loves it’s each time. I found a groupon online and decided to go! I booked and appointment and didn’t happen to catch the name. I ended up having Rob highlight and cut my hair. I brought in a picture of how I wanted my hair to look (highlights, fringe and length) He took his time and kept referencing the picture. I think that is a lot of people’s problems, they have an idea in their head of what they want and they are not clear at describing it. Then they get upset when they don’t look like their vision. I know this sounds crazy to say but this is honestly the BEST haircut I’ve have in my life. I’m really picky and I usually like something at the salon and go home to cry in the mirror. Not with this cut! The highlights were even and really just brightened up my whole look. I ask tons of questions and he showed me how I would put my hair up in a pony and half up and what to do with my fringe. Even though I was clueless he was very patient and kind. I went back to the states for Christmas and my family kept telling me how much they loved my hair and how nicely it framed my face. People at my work even noticed my haircut. I never realized how much a great haircut can do for you! I will definitely be going back and asking for Rob! Couldn’t be happier. :)

Really tough to pick a star rating for this one. I’m going with 3 which Unilocal classifies as A-​OK. I was possibly slightly unlucky with my timing so I suspect it has the potential to be better.
I had a Groupon for a cut and colour for £27. Deal! They didn’t answer my email (who has a
email now anyway?) but *did* interact on the Facebook page which was good–
. It allowed me to enquire about the mandatory patch testing and discover that I could just walk in for it. When I did, I was able to book an appointment for the following Saturday.
I had Rob who is the junior stylist. He’s a very sweet guy and listens carefully to what you want. We went with a dark brown with (apparently) some purple in it to try to drown out the bits of old red and the grey in my hair. He took his time with application (although did manage to splatter dye into my eye!) and did his best to cover everything before leaving me for 30 minutes. Well, 30 minutes was the plan. Their apprentice quit a few weeks earlier so my timer rang while he was cutting someone else’s hair. I usually let my colour sit for longer than the instructions say anyway so didn’t panic. After it had been on an hour it was starting to burn a bit and he’d asked the senior stylist to help with his cut so thought it was time to speak up. Luckily he brought me to the basin to wash it off.
The cut was fine-​all the nasty ends are gone but he didn’t scalp me. Phew! I couldn’t decide what to do with my fringe and he doesn’t seem to be at the level where he helps with those decisions yet (sometimes I need the stylist to help me out) so just left it to be safe.
It took about 3 hours in the end for a colour and trim which was a bit too much, but am assuming it would be faster if they were fully staffed. They seemed very under pressure. Giving 3 stars seems a little like kicking a puppy because they were sweet and tried, but it was a bit tiring. I would consider going back, probably when they get their new apprentice, particularly because they give a discount for your return visit!

I bought a hair cut voucher online for Limelight salon. The staff are really polite and one of them made me a really nice cup of tea. The stylists asked me what type of cut I wanted and did a good job if it. The girl who washed my hair, massaged my scalp very well and was happy to make sure that the shampoo was thoroughly washed out of my hair when I asked her to check. The only downside was that I was waiting for around 30 – 40 minutes before I was seen, however they did realise this and they were apologetic. Very nice décor — modern and fresh… like a lime. I would recommend to others.
