This is a nice old-school café. It’s also incredibly large — I just ducked in to get a cup of tea — expecting to find a poky little greasy spoon type affair, but in fact found a fairly large, clean, quiet café. It’s not that much to look at — but then it’s not really trying to be a posh café loungey thing, just a place where you can sit down and have a cup of tea and some cheap food. They do chips, eggs and beans and a can of pop for £3.59, which seemed pretty good value for money to me. The lady behind the counter was lovely — I was about 5p short to pay for my cuppa, and she told me not to worry, just pay her back next time I was in, which was nice. It was a good cup of tea too! Served in a big mug, none of this measly European sized mugs here. A good no-nonsense place to put your feet up once you’ve had your fill of the high street in Acocks Green.
