Also hidden on the soho road was this little stop off to grab some food. They have these amazing looking cakes as soon as you walk in. We actually felt like eating savoury food though so opted for the chicken tikka toasties, cup of tea and milkshake. I had the fererro rocher(however you spell it) one. The food did take a while to get to us and the milkshake took even longer but apart from that it was good! The toasties were hot and fresh and. had these pickled chillies on them. which I quite liked! I am not usually a fan of chilli but wow these were good. As I write this I could probably eat it again ahah… The milkshake was amazing, really tasted hazelnutty and was blended well with cream and sauce on top. It did get a bit of a lunch rush as we were sitting there which was quite good to see even if the shop was quite small; people in the local area obviously like it!

I have such a sweet tooth that a whiff of anything sweet drives my taste buds crazy! As far as I’m concerned, nothing can be more uplifting than freshly prepared, soft-sponge, creamy cakes! And De La Crème offers just that and more! They have beautifully decorated cakes. Some are fresh-cream, others with icing or butter cream. If you’re spoilt for choice then why not try a bit of each — like me! Everything they sell is prepared on site so the patisserie smells divine! They custom-make cakes for birthdays and other occasions, although I’m not sure how much notice they need for bookings. And they have other shops in Birmingham, which are in Small Heath, Acocks Green and Moseley. You’re not just limited to cakes though. They also sell paninis and sandwiches, as well as hot drinks. There’s a limited seating area. It’s a welcome break from the many Indian sweet shops in the area.

This shop is a welcome addition to the area and offers us locals something different to have a nibble of! When you first walk in, it’s not the biggest of shops but they stock a wide range of cakes both small and large. I opted for a cheese and tomatoe panini followed by a slice of the chocolate cake. I’m not sure what kind of cake it was but it had nuts in and it was really tasty. There were free cake samples on the counter so I had a couple of these whilst I was waiting. Free food always gets a vote from me!

A different food store compared to all the other sweet centres on Soho Road which is refreshing. I always enjoy coming here and the food I have brought has been excellent. You can have both hot and soft drinks here. I have had a hot chocolate from De la Crème and it was perfecto. It tasted just as I like it and I savoured every moment of that hot chocolate. I have also had jacket potato and beans. The potato was cooked to perfection and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are cakes, paninis and croissants you can eat from here. I also love my chocolate éclairs and I was in one of those moods where I just craved for an éclair. It was excellent to say the least and I just love coming here. Next time I am in Handsworth, I will be coming here again. The seating area is too small in my view and you would be better off eating outdoors.
