There’s a veritable plethora of takeaways available to the discerning drunkard after a long night dancing to the latest beats on Broad Street. One of those options is the pleasingly onomatopoeically named Burger Bite, specialising in, you guessed it, burgers, but also do the usual takeaway fodder, kebabs, chicken, chips, etc. There’s so many takeaways in such a compressed location that you really will be spoilt for choice, but, in my opinion, if it’s a kebab you’re after, you can do a lot worse than Burger Bite. The cleave the donner and chicken meat off a rotating spit, the way kebabs are supposed to be, rather than producing the meat from some unknown area, which I always find a bit disconcerting. You can get your hands on one of these authentic kebabs, along with chips and a drink, for just £5.50. As with many of the other takeaways close by(although notably not the excellent Bella Pizza), there’s next to no seating, so plan ahead and have a friend on taxi-securing duty while you get your food to maximise heat for when you’re home.

A typical broad street fast food joint. Unlike some of the dining establishments, Burger Bite is actually half decent, with relatively big portions at good prices. The service is fairly pleasant as well, with the patience of those who work there being tested to the limits on a Friday/Saturday night, although I have never had any problems. Although we usual head to Big Bite, my friends and I have found Burger Bite to be a more than adequate substitute after a night on the beer. Chips and chili sauce is a favourite of mine, but I can imagine the sauce being too hot for me during the day, with only alcohol lining my mouth and giving me the courage to power through them.

A convenient eatery for that all important burger and chips on your night out. The haunt is small but just convenient and practical. The chips and burgers are the most popular in here. I always have an extra large portion of chips(being 6ft4, I have hollow legs to fill). Good sized proportions and the food is OK for a quick fill. You don’t have to wait too long for your food, and the place just smells quite strongly of kebabs. They do have a lot of options, so you can also get chicken, fish or wraps. Don’t overdo it on the curry sauce though, as you’ll regret it somewhat afterwards. Cheap and cheerful, take cash with you as they didn’t accept credit card on our visit.
