Brilliant pizza, cooked in a wood burning oven, and all done in a van. What more can you ask for? If you see this van and want something to eat, go try it.

Your pizzas are amazing. Keep up the good work, guys! Crunchy base, hot, full of flavour and easy to pick up and eat — what more could you want?

Bare Bones Pizza serve wood fired pizzas from the back of their Citroen Relay van at street events. They’re based in Birmingham, so locals are lucky enough to see them featured regularly at events. Their pizzas are 10″ Neapolitan style and are prepared fresh to order. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to sample their pizzas twice this week. Firstly at Sarehole Mill on Sunday, then again at Unilocalovision on Tuesday. On Sunday I had a meaty pizza and on Tuesday I had a margherita; both were fantastic! I’m really not a fan of stodgy deep pan pizzas, so I was very pleased with their wood fired hand stretched Neapolitan bases, which were made and cooked to perfection. They’re definitely of a size to be one pizza per person(four slices), although we did have one shared between four five-year-olds on Sunday. They cost around £6.00-£8.50 each, although I think the prices may vary depending on what event they are at. Their van is fully stocked with Pip’s Hot Sauce — a locally produced hot sauce that you must try if you like a bit of heat! I will certainly visit their van again, next time I see it pulled up.

We had Bare Bones Pizza at an(awesome!) Unilocal event last and I will honestly be seeking them out more in future. I think i had a slice of all the different options they sent and my favourite by far was the tuna and olives combination. Ummm… it’s making me hungry just thinking about it! They were cooked to perfection so the cheese was all gooey and yummy and the crust was nice… not too chewy and not to soft! Loved it!

Om a nyom a nyom is the only way to start this review. We were treated to this luscious pizza at a Unilocal event and it was simply some of the nicest takeaway food I have ever had. The bases are wholesome homemade lovely and thin with a nice crispy crust. The toppings are plentiful and there is a great variety to choose from and I hear they constantly add new items. I definitely recommend if you spot these guys at one of Birmingham’s great street food events.

Bare Bones Pizza are a streetfood van that can now be found at many of Birmingham’s prominent street eat events. The van is awesome! All the pizzas are wood fired in their oven in the van and are cooked fresh to order every single time. I first came across these guys at the foodie event outside the Council House and have sought them out at other events since. The menu changes often, but you can always expect great quality, fresh pizza served piping hot. As well as meat options, they can also do vegan and vegetarian pizza — so they can truly cater for everyone. Mike(the owner of Bare Bones) is a cheerful and helpful guy and is always up for a brief chat. You will be welcomed with a smile if you pop on by the van(which is easily seen due to the gigantic pizza motif on the side). I have tried the vegetarian and a meaty variety and both had lashings of cheese and plenty of toppings to tease the palate. Expect to pay around £7/£9 for a whole pizza, but you won’t find many better in Brum!

This is a five star review based purely on the pizza itself. I didn’t get to the street food van as the pizza was hand collected by my fellow Unilocalers brought to Staying Cool! It was a four slice whole pizza which I’m sure is made in a wood-fired oven. The pizza was a thin and crispy style one which was hand tossed(No sniggering please!) I prefer my pizza to be deep pan but this was great! I had a meaty one! Hunt them down on social media to find out where they are next!
