I’m always guaranteed to pick something up at Amelie. Even if I don’t intend to. Somehow all its little trinkets and gifts and pretty things seem to find their way into my hands and over to the checkout… It’s not going to be to everyone’s taste(think vintagey, quirky, shabby chic little antique-y looking things) but it’s perfect for gifts for girlfriends’ birthdays or what have you. It’s definitely a girly shop, so don’t even bother going in if you’re after a present for a bloke. It’s also pretty small, and definitely to a specific taste. But if you’re after a few little Montmartre style mirrors, candles or ornaments, there’s no better place to look.

I think it’s probably a safe assumption that I don’t conform to Amelie’s target market — I’m not really into ‘girly’ things(although I do like glitter… have I mentioned that?!), I don’t collect amusing fridge magnets and whilst I like a nice cushion I have no real desire to purchase bunting… However, if you DO like this sort of thing or are after a tasteful wedding gift then Amelie will delight. As noted in the last review they sell a range of pre-distressed furniture, pretty boxes, mirrors, candle holders and clothes hooks. The lady who runs it seems very nice and welcoming and it feels more comfortable browsing here than in other boutiquey shops in the High Street. A nice place to buy a wedding present or treat the girly person in your life!

What a beautiful little shop! This is perfect for gifts and pretty bits of furniture for your home. I love this shop as the things that they sell are designed in that vintage, shabby chic kind of style. It is quite expensive, but everything is in such good condition and is quite unique, so it is worth the price. The furniture is a little out of my kind of price range, but they have some lovely little things such as jewellery boxes and mirrors that would make lovely gifts. I often come in here when I am looking for a gift, particularly for girls, or for wedding presents as everything has quite a romantic feel about it. The lady who I often see that works there, is very pleasant and always asks if I need any help with anything, but most of the time I like to browse and buy the occasional treat or gift. Definitely a girly shop!
