I’ve lived in London all my life and apart from the obvious Hyde Park and Regent Park, etc, this place is the BEST open green space. It’s huge. It’s five minutes from my front door and it has a lake. What more could you want? How about an annual festival with fairground rides, music, good food, good prizes and homemade cakes and trinkets from the locals. This is where I spent my childhood, though the play park has been updated a LOT since I was a toddler. It has swings, a squirting water fountain thing that little kids run around in to keep cool and a rock garden full of little nooks and crannies for a group of kids to play hide and seek in. It also has little rivers and springs dotted all around wish fish and frogs frolicking in the water. So peaceful. If I ever get stressed out with life, this is the place I go. On a sunny day it’s basically unbeatable, it’s free and it’s a real community bolthole. VISITIT.

I love Danson Park, especially during the Danson Park Festival, if you have not been, you DONOT know what you are missing. Good music, fair rides, shows, good food, events, if the weather is good, wow its a GREAT day out for the family. On other days the kids park is a good day out for the kids as well, with lots of things for them to tire themselves out on and the little hole in the wall coffee hut is cheap as well. On a sunny day this park is lovely. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED.

Danson Park holds fond memories for me. I spent many an hour of my youth in this park playing football or just chilling out on the grass next to the lake. The park has a lot of sporting facilities. Inside the grounds are tennis courts(both grass and hard court) and a small golf pitch and putt course which make the park a good location to spend whole days in the summer. The lake is also a good spot to visit and during the summer you can hire boats for frolicking on the water. During the springtime the council puts a lot of effort into the gardens which feature flower displays, rockeries and places to sit and contemplate. These are a must visit if you are in the area during either summer or spring. In the winter the field is an ideal place for games of football. Goalposts are up all week, not just for the Sunday league matches, and there are plenty of pitches to have a game on and I have never struggled to find a spot. The pitches aren’t the best quality however. A lot of the time the grass can get quite long and overgrown but in post people’s eyes, a pitch is a pitch. A small kiosk next to the boat house provides refreshments and snacks for you should you need an energy boost or re-hydrating during your game. There is also a pub on the grounds(The Stables) which is useful in either summer or winter for a cool refreshing drink or a warm meal. The pub is obviously a separate business to the park but it is still a good facility to have nearby. The children’s play park is equally as impressive as the rest of the facility with all sorts of rides, slides and swings to keep the little ones occupied. There is usually an ice cream van located right outside the park for quick stop refreshments and snacks. Parking is available on site and is free during winter time but annoyingly the park becomes a cash cow in the summer and charges apply for parking. Fear not though as it is possible to park in side roads of which there are many just a stones throw away from the many park entrances. As parks go, Danson Park is one of the best around. There are frequently chavs which loiter around in certain parts but the park is so big that if there is a problem, you can settle somewhere else and not be disturbed.
