The Corium is an alternative clothing store and one of Belfast’s only ones. They sell all types of band t-shirts, punky jewelry as well as some other funky pieces like really quirky necklaces like the Lego ones, which I thought were pretty cute. The staff are usually blasting the music and they are packed full of emo kids at the weekends. A funky little shop.

The Corium is a cool alternative clothing shop offering a whole array of cool T-Shirts with funny sayings, movies and characters on them. But my favourite thing about it is the funky jewellery. They sell loads of unusual necklaces, rings and body jewellery-I picked up a rather spectacular Belly Bar for just £4. Love it! They have lots of Twilight merchandise in here too for all you fanatics! Its a great shop to come to for some gift Ideas as you’re guaranteed no one else will have bought the ame thing. I love the cupcake and buiscuit rings and the buiscuit necklaces! So cool. And you’re guaranteed that everyone will be asking where you got it from!

If you’re after a rock/alternative t-shirt or some funky jewellery you’d be wised to steer away from the over priced Urban Outfitters and wander round the corner to this smaller shop. Plenty of bright new wave imagery assaults you and the friendly staff are more than welcoming. I’m assuming they do a roaring trade as the Saturday I was in the place was packed, mostly with young ‘alternative’ girls. Having said that the fashion seems to be pretty much 25⁄75 in favour of girl’s tops/shirts etc. The music was good in the shop as well and not too over bearingly loud so it’s definitely a fun vibey place to check out if you’re in town. Pros: Central, friendly atmosphere. Cons: Limited stock.

One of the few alternative clothing stores in Belfast. I used to frequent them a lot more in my youth than I would these days. You used to be able to find yourself a few band tee-shirts that were so much cheaper than buying them at a gig. However now with me being a little older and a little wiser I don’t find myself in here as often as I used to, but I still go in from time to time to look for a few bits and pieces. I recently found a really good Danger Mouse tee-shirt in here for £10. Go to a bigger store like Next for example and you would have to fork out over £25 for pretty much the same one.

I did rather like the Corium, I have to say. As well as unusual /alternative t-shirts, there is a vast array of the most fantastic jewellery I have ever seen. Honestly. The coolest stuff in town. Think ‘Lego’ necklaces(both actual ‘Lego’ pieces, as well as the little people), biscuit rings(‘Jammy Dodgers’, cupcakes etc etc), the most unusual earrings and bars for belly button piercings(smiley faces, ‘Twilight’ themed ones etc etc). Absolutely incredible. And apparently they’re handmade too. The assistant was really pleasant and friendly, and he didn’t mind my gawping at all the jewellery on offer. I couldn’t resist picking up a cupcake ring for a mere £4. With its yellow case, fluffy mint green icing and a glittery cherry on the top, I was smitten. I was even provided with the cutest little sealable bag you ever saw for my ring. It’s those little touches that mean the most. And keep me happy, happy, happy. I was just about to hop off, when I noticed a t-shirt labelled«the periodic table of music», with a colourful periodic table of, yes, you guessed it… all kinds of music. Love it. I don’t know how long I’ll be staying away from this place, but whether it be for myself or for a friend… I’ll definitely be back.

The Corium is an alternative clothes store. There are a few of these in Belfast, most of them I used to love in my alternative, hippy days and even now, they still stock some pretty cool T-shirts. But The Corium is one I’ve never liked. The inside looks like the just haven’t tried. It’s a shell of a shop that they’ve just started hanging things around. The staff seem nice, its not overly expensive but there’s just better places in Belfast for the products they sell. Fresh Garbage, one of the best and oldest shops in Belfast is a one stop shop for similar products and it has a history behind it. Not a bad shop, but nothing special. Belfast is a small city, so just take the walk to the better shops.
