while staying in belfast we had passed a sting of chinese restuarants on donegal pass. Being as how i love asian food we had to try one of them. Sun Kee seemed to be the best bet. when we walked in all the customers were asian. always a good sign. we had salt and chili prawns, minced pork with aubergines(eggplant to us americans) bok choi in oyster sauce and dumplings plus some white rice. overall it was excellent. my only complaint was the 3.8 pound charge for the rice. being an american im used to rice coming with the meal.

Simply amazing, by far the best Chinese restaurant in Belfast, if you like Chinese food this is the place to go. The staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful and the food is just fantastic, I am now a regular customer. There is a wide range on the menu of proper chinese food(unlike those cheap, bad tasting ones around Belfast). It looks like a proper Chinese building on the outside and has a nice feel on the inside. I would suggest asking for the lunch menu, it’s great

We went for their dim sum as our friends raved about it, but we didn’t know they only serve it at lunch. Rather than laughing at us, our very helpful waiter gave us a bit of a lesson on Chinese customs. He then helped us pick out some really tasty and unusual dishes(I am not a fan of the norm!) and we had a great evening. Will definitely be back.

I’ve only been to the Sun Kee once and I suspect that the reason I enjoyed it so was more to do with the company than the restaurant. In the plus column, they have lazy susans on the tables, which is always a winner to me(easily pleased, you see)! The quantities of the food were also manageable, but not stingy. Also, I think it might be BYO(but don’t quote me). I guess the problem is that it just wasn’t that memorable. I remember having loads of fun, but I don’t remember great service, or exceptional food, or beautiful décor. I won’t say I’ll never go back, because I have no reason to be put off, I just think the whole place is a little bit middle of the road.

Sun kee is the rumoured favourite amongst the chinese community of Belfast and I must say I quite enjoyed the place. The menu was really big and full of all the usuals. The staff were great as you always find in a well run Chinese restaurant. I went for my favourite black bean beef stir fry which was pretty good as most places go. the beef was really nice and tender and the sauce was great. I also had some vegetable rolls to start which were good too and had afew beers. The general atmosphere is very inviting and I would go back but its no Zen!

Sun Kee is a popular Chinese restaurant in Belfast. I heard nothing but good things, so when I heard a friend of mine had arranged for a bunch of the guys to go there I was pretty chuffed. Sadly though, what I experienced wasn’t all that incredible. The food was ok. I had Lemon Chicken and well, it was Lemon Chicken, but it wasn’t any better than anything I’ve had from a takeaway and it was considerably more expensive! I don’t wanna put this place down to much. I’m not a big Chinese food fan so maybe I just lack the palate to appreciate the good stuff.

By far one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Belfast, and the one, they say, that is most favoured by the actual Chinese community — so that can’t be bad advertising! I’ve dined here a few times, sometimes just the two of us, and on other occasions with a large group of about fifteen, and every time we were looked after with great care and civility, and the atmosphere was always lovely. It’s got a bring your own policy, which is always popular for those on a budget, and the menu is extensive. The dishes are not bog-standard run of the mill ‘Belfast-style’ Chinese dishes, but you can tell they are authentic, original recipes, and they are always served with good presentation and you never wait long. My only negative is that when my incredibly drunken friend wanted to pay on his credit card for a meal for 15 people, the manager actually let him do it, even though we tried to explain that everyone was paying their own way — I thought this was bad judgement. Don’t worry we collected the cash and reimbursed our impulsive friend, who, mercifully could not remember this highly embarrassing incident.

Simply perfect, what more can I say! The food is wonderful, staff are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and the smaller size of the restaurant makes a more informal, less hurried type of evening. You will struggle to find better chinese food in Belfast. Although it can be quite expensive, just having a main course here at the same cost as having a few courses in some of the lesser places in Belfast is a worthwhile trade-off. Like I said, perfection!!!
