Called into ground espresso bar today to get a cup of tea and get some coursework started. I got loads done and the atmosphere was subdued, relaxed and warm. The tea was lovely and I think I found my new study bubble when I go into hiding for a few days due to my procrastination. This business establishment is above Waterstones and is perfect if you want to buy a book and make an instant start on the story over a cup of tea or coffee. Worth a visit if your in the area and looking to wind down after xmas shopping!

Friend and I stopped by to relax and get some paper work done, had a coffee and tea. We loved every minute; great coffee, great tea, great atmosphere, great staff. Definitely be returning!

Cinnamon scones are the way forward! Love that I can have a wee browse in Waterstones first, then go and get myself some coffee and yummy food.

Hidden above Waterstone’s bookstore in Belfast City Centre is the brilliant Ground Espresso Bar, I say hidden because you really have to keep your eyes peeled to spot the tiny sandwich board from the street. It’s clear that they take coffee very seriously here, there’s huge blackboards dotted throughout the interior explaining the coffee beans journey from Honduras to Belfast. I really like this touch and it’s clear that ethical sourcing is at the forefront of their thoughts. There’s a whole range of different blends at the counter and even a wee story about the bean of the day which happened to be ‘Crafty Little Number’ when I visited. This is the perfect place to chill out for an hour. It has fee Wifi although if you fancy it you can go back to the old school and grab a few books from Waterstone’s and disconnect for a change. I say that but I’m sitting here on my laptop surfing the web! I ordered a flat white as usual and they served it in a wee glass which I liked, all too often flat white’s seem to be served in larger cups which means they have cooled long before you have a chance to finish. They have a range of pastries on offer also and I indulged in a Chorizo Sausage Roll which was out of this world, they heated it up so it was piping hot on delivery. The pastry was soft and fluffy and the sausage meat and chorizo were blended to perfection. This whole place seems to have been aimed towards people on a working lunch, there’s plenty of power sockets to charge your many devices and there’s a relaxed atmosphere. I think I’ve just found my new office!

Another day, another coffee! I think that’s pretty much my goal when I wake up! ‘Where am I going today?’ and this café with books all around is always a good choice! Their coffee is good, I mean really good! They have some ‘no-caffeine’ options too but that’s not for me! Their flat white is good but even better is their cortado! Just an espresso with a bit of milk, perfect after lunch as it is light and not heavy as a cappuccino! It’s originally from Spain, where coffee is ‘cut’(‘cortado’) with milk. Heavenly! The staff is always so attentive and chatty — they know their regular customers and I like it! The space is also quite pleasant, with plenty of seats and a nice décor! So nothing better that having coffee in a place surrounded by books that creates a wonderful atmosphere, with plenty of places to connect your laptop and where wifi is on the house! Gotta love it!
