As previously stated in another review stores such as Argos and the now bust Index decided it wished to treat its customers in a different manner as to what they were used to. No longer do you see a product, pick it up and examine and then bring it over to a helpful shop assistant once your mind is made up, no. In this world we now have a book of close to 2000 pages which contains more or less everything you can imagine that exists — from naff cheap gold jewellery to weights, tents, furniture and kitchen appliances. This Argo store really reiterates the same. The books — of course, the laminated books of dream are designed to catch the tears of joy… I bought a set of weights from this one a few weeks ago and unfortunately had to carry the 25kg set all the way home.

Argos is great for comparing prices of products that you might buy elsewhere but that you often find cheaper in Argos. Over the years I’ve bought I don’t know how many different bits and pieces out of here and they always do a brilliant deal on the products they offer. This branch in Castle Court is one of the many in Belfast so it’s handy for the reserve and collect service they offer. Argos is great in that it stocks a zillion of items all under one round in relatively a small space. So you can browse through the catalogue in the comfort of your own home and either purchase online, or if you’re not a fan of online shopping then call in store, see if the item is in stock, and then wait a short while for your goods to be collected. Easy, convenient shopping for good prices.

I have reviewed a few Argos’s over the last wee while and I have to say that I am pretty much a fan of them. You know what the deal is. You go in, you pick up one of the wee pens, you look up what you want in the big book with its laminated pages, you then put the number into the wee machine and it says if its there, you then fill in the wee sheet and take it to the people at the till and they make you pay and then it comes out of the hole at the back of the shop and you walk out with your stuff, not forgetting to steal the mini pen. All Argos’s may be the same but thats ok. You can tell them apart by the service you get and how long it takes. This isn’t the quickest one I’ve ever been in, and the service isn’t the best but its certainly not the worst. You could do a lot worse than go here. If you need to get a new set of headphones or a set of hair straighteners then this is the place to go probably, its cheap, quick and inoffensive.

I’m definitely a fan of Argos. I mean you can get just about anything in here can’t you? I’ve been in this store to get USB drives for college and most recently a dictaphone(which I’m actually quite ashamed of as it’s so cheap looking!) and some good quality speakers for my laptop. Oh and an iron for a tenner, not bad eh? Very boring, but essential stuff. It’s pretty much self service and it’s quite good that you can check if they have items in stock on the website before going into the store. This store is well run and the staff are pretty efficient and pleasant. A-ok in a word(or two).

This Argos is always packed and you always have to wait for a couple of minutes for an available space to appear in the benches with the oversized laminated Argos catalogues. This would be my local Argos that I would go to if I was ever in need. Argos is one of those shops that has surfed the wave of technical innovations. I can remember when the only technology they had were those little pens that ran out within three minutes and a piece of paper. Funnily they still have these remarkable pen and paper systems in place but they also have a little gadget to measure stock levels which gets five stars in my book. They also employ the use of touch screens monitors to aid in the searching of items. I think these are a waste of time as it is just so much quicker to look it up in the book. The final revolution Argos have subscribed too is the debit payment machine. This is the best thing they have introduced as it does save an enormous amount of time in queuing and what not. Sit back and wait for your number to be called and your product magically appear from a little hole in a wall. Argos surely must have stole some of Santa’s elves!!!
