Very nice selection of tapas at reasonable prices. Lots of traditional style tapas such as patatas bravas; chorizo in red wine; tiger prawns in garlic & chilli. I tried all of these in addition to a mini Spanish omelette and a super tasty filo pasty with sweet potato, caramelised onion & goats cheese filling — amazing veggie option! They do a good selection of beers, wines and sangria. I was happy to see they had Estrella, perfect accompaniment to the tapas. They have a nice little outdoor dining area(with heaters if required) and the traditional Spanish music playing in the background really makes the full experience — really felt like I was back on holiday in Barcelona. The only one small negative I would note is the service was quite slow, but it wouldn’t stop me returning for the great food

We usually love tapas and the service here so took advantage of a Groupon advert. Unfortunately we waited for an occasion to use this which happened to be the last day of the validity of the deal. We went down early for dinner for about 6. We literally got our hand on the door to enter when a member of staff dealing with outdoor diners shouted across to us that they were full and had no food left. My partner just about got«we have a Groupon voucher to be used» to to be snarked at «take it up with groupon». Regardless of the circumstances of a day of service the staff where obviously overwhelmed by we did not deserve to be dismissed like this. It has put me off going back. Following this I did follow it up with Groupon and received a full refund. They apologised for our experience but definitely left with a sour taste in our mouth. :(

One of my favourite places to eat in Belfast — whilst making you feel like you are on your holidays. If possible I always try to sit outside and watch the world go by while drinking a jug of sangria and imagining I am in sunnier climes. You can eat as much or as little as you like here as it is all tapas on average £3.50−4.50 each and I haven’t had a bad one yet. Recently they have removed the chicken salad from their menu which is a disappointment as it was one of my favourite dishes but this has meant I have tried a few different tapas that I maybe would of bypassed before. Staff are friendly and attentive without being over bearing. It’s my go to place as often as I can. I think I am due to visit again soon — it’s been too long!

Set in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter 2 Taps offers something Belfast doesn’t have an abundance of, genuine Spanish cuisine. 2 Taps best feature is arguably it’s large outside dining area, which is fully covered and equipped with heaters. This area offers alfresco dining regardless of Belfast’s changeable weather. We were in the Cathedral Quarter in Saturday evening and decided to give 2 Taps a go — we didn’t book a table but gambled that they’d be able to squeeze a table for 2 in at short notice. Sure enough they had a lovely wee table for 2 available between the bar and the main seated area. As it was shirt notice we were just glad to get the table. One thing we immediately noticed was that there were lots of staff working — always a good sign, especially on peak nights. The décor inside was a little dated, the Mediterranean theme didn’t really flow through the whole interior and this made the whole place sort of feel cobbled together — there was nothing terrible but it just felt like it needed a face lift in places. Moving swiftly on to the food and drinks — our main focus initially was the cocktail menu and we went for a French Martini(a pink and girly choice) and a dark and story(a manly mans choice) — these were made to perfection. For food we went for 2 tapas dishes that acted as starters and a shared paella. The tapas dishes of choice were steak, peppered sauce and rice and Giant King prawns in a buttery sauce — these were also cooked to perfection and served as a perfect precursor to the main course. The main of paella was beautiful and the portions were extremely generous. I can’t quite remember it’s name as I was about 5 drinks in at this point but it had mussels, king prawns and chorizo with a spicy kick. For 2 of us half paella was enough. Overall 2 Taps was an excellent Saturday night dinner destination and the only thing letting it down is the décor — all the other elements are there!

This is another regular spot I visit — I simply love it. Amazing tapas, great wine and delicious jugs of sangria. I adore sitting outside 2Taps in the summer — and also in the winter, as they have really great outdoor heaters — always feel like I’m on a holiday when I’m here! Lovely relaxed atmosphere and delightful staff. Perfect place for a relaxing, lazy lunch or dinner.

I’ll start with an admission– I’m not a big fan of tapas. When I go out for food I like a big plate of food, none of this small plate sharing mularky, but the other half likes it, so here we go. The staff are lovely, the menu extensive, it has ok décor. We are there as we are going drinking in the area, and 2Taps is handy. I order the Espárragos con Parmesano and Patatas Asadas con Romero(basically some roast spuds) and the other half orders Patatas Bravas and chorizo. I felt the portions were a bit skimpy for the price, and it wasn’t really awesomely cooked, but as a light feed before the pub it is fine. I suppose in conclusion I’d say if you don’t have super high expectations and just need a sit down and some fuel in the Cathedral Quarter it’ll suit your needs nicely.

Perfect for a group meal. The tapas pick and mix style meant a very stress free evening. No one waiting for their order while the rest tucked in. The food was lovely and the staff great.

A lunch with friends on a Friday afternoon turns into a messy, blurry, yumm filled evening. I was invited to join my lovely housemate and her friend at Taps 2 one Friday lunchtime for a glass of vino and a catch up. My first time eating tapas, I might add so I was a little unsure but I made the trip down to Cathedral Quarter on the sunny afternoon and we made ourselves comfortable in the outside seating area which was very relaxing. With the smell of tapas in the air, a glass of wine in hand and the very friendly and efficient staff, I was struggling to accept that I was still in Belfast and not sitting outside a beachfront café on some exotic island. Feeling quite taken aback with the huge menu choice I thought I’d stay relatively safe and ordered the steak with pepper sauce, salted chilli calamari and chilli beef tapas. We shared some salads, chips and haloumi dishes also. I can honestly say everything on our table was cooked to perfection, tasty, well presented and a thrill for our taste-buds. So much so that our Friday lunchtime catch up turned into a whole day of keeping the staff busy. Lots of wine was involved, a lovely 2 piece Spanish band entertained us late afternoon and we carried on drinking until we realised it was dinnertime and we had become hungry again. At this point we did consider doing the smart thing and going home to bed, but instead we ordered more tapas and carried on. The staff were brilliant, taking orders left right and centre for more and more tapas as our friends joined us after their longs days stuck in their offices: p being on hand, keeping our wine glasses topped up and generally doing all they could to no doubt keep a bunch of alcohol fueled females happy. I could not recommend this restaurant enough. The only downside I thought was the inside décor, the chairs looked extremely uncomfortable and the overall atmosphere inside was very dark but it’s clear to see that people come to Taps 2 to sit outside in the sun and pretend, like myself that they are on their holidays. A*** all round.

This place is absoutely fab, I can’t get enough of it. When I worked in the city centre, I used to come round here to meet my friends after work every Friday. We always used to sit in the wee covered area outside, and it is the perfect way to end the working week, sitting outside with a glass of wine and some good food, just watching the world go by. The staff here are all unbelievably friendly and always on hand. I can’t recommend this place enough! They do a massive range of food, and it’s great to order lots of small dishes so you can pick and mix and get loads of different flavours at once. Each dish only costs around the £3 mark, so there is no excuse not to get lots! My favourite is the bbq chicken with yogurt, and the grilled seabass. If you haven’t been — get yourself down there ASAP!

Bizarrely the whole tapas thing hasn’t really taken off in Belfast… everyone I know loves it but there aren’t really that many eateries in the town. I was very pleased to see 2Taps down at Cotton Court as I feel this area would really suit the style of dining. Even though it was a cold evening we sat outside under the covered awning and thankfully the large outdoor heaters were doing a great job keeping the busy area warm. We ordered a couple of cold beers and then we dove straight into the food. Basics from marinated olives through to a killer salt chilli squid dish arrived and we spent a leisurely hour or so enjoying the food. It’s actually a great setting with a cool view of the hustle and bustle on Waring St, quite good for a bit of a ‘celeb stalk’ with the ever popular Merchant just over the road. Surprisingly the bill didn’t seem too big as we felt we had eaten a huge amount by this time. Definitely something different. Pros: Lovely setting, good for people watching. Cons: Staff seemed a bit chaotic at times though it was v busy.

As someone who loves nothing more than to pick at and try lots of different dishes(costly in an indian!) I adore Tapas! I love the social aspect that comes with this type of dining at at only around £4 a dish it doesn’t break the bank here either! 2Taps is a really nice restaurant smack bang in the middle of the cathedral quarter and opposite the merchant hotel. It offers a huge variety of Tapas and a really nice place to eat it in! I always love some wine with mine and the wine list is really good and reasonably priced. 2Taps is a great place to go to with a group of friends as the more people the more stuff there is up for sharing! I love the easygoing atmosphere and the staff are really great! My favourite dishes are the patata bravas and the sea bass is really great too!

Tapas is a relatively new thing for me. I am a little bit annoyed I have been missing it for so long. It is a great way to have a meal with a few friends, where everyone can just pick and choose what they want to eat. 2taps is a brilliant place to go if you enjoy good Spanish cuisine, and unfortunately there are not many other places to go in Belfast if you do. I cannot really say that I have a favourite tapas dish from 2taps, because there are so many, but I would have to say it is probably the classic meatballs in tomato sauce, not particularly Spanish I admit, but still an amazing dish. I have seen some massive plates of paella in this place too, which might be a bit of fun to order on a night out.

Mmmmmmmm… tapas. Makes my mouth water instantly. The many little dishes of delectable delights turning up on the table, never ending and gorgeous, is my idea of heaven. I love tapas, it gives you a chance to try something new and be adventurous while also playing safe and ordering food you love and know well. Much better service than in some other well-known Tapas Restaurants I’ve been to, and a nice intimate and pleasant atmosphere, but you’re not sitting on top of the next table either. I came here with two girlfriends and we really enjoyed our grub and didn’t pay too much either. Since one of us is a vegetarian, it suited very well to be able to pick and choose the different dishes. The waiter was more than helpful also. The tiger prawn dish was lovely, and the nicest Patatas Bravas I’ve had in ages too. They’ve got a lovely outdoor seating area for the summer time which is great because the restaurant is right in the heart of the cathedral quarter. Can’t wait to go back.

Taps 2 seems to me to be a very popular restaurant. I have been several times and each time it has been bunged as we say in Belfast. My only question is — is it called 2 Taps or Taps 2? It seems that prople call it both. There is currently a printable voucher on the website with the offer of 2 tapas dishes and a glass of wine for £6.95 Mon — Thurs. Now the expiry date on it is March 09 but I think I will chance my arm with it the next time I go. The menu is varied and a wide range of tapas is up for grabs. I am a recent convert to tapas and love the sociable aspect of it — trying lots of bits and pieces and taking your time. My personal recommendations are the pepper tapenade and bean and pea spread which come with flat bread, the fried chorizo, the seabass in lemon butter and of course the patata bravas. The menu is split into starters and main courses and you can order that way if you like, but you can also order a mixture to be served all together. Now, how much will it set you back. Almost every tapas dish is under £4 which is fine by me. The food usually arrives not too quickly or too slolwly — there is a fine balance for this fussy diner. This is a place where you can relax in a buzzy atmosphere and take your time over lots of different food. I by far prefer this to a huge dinner plate of food. 2 Taps is in the increasingly busy and popular Cathedral Quarter so there are plently of bars to head to before or afterwards. A top night out without having to walk too far. Perfect.

Reasonable tapas but nothing to write home about. The restaurant itself is lively for a night out and in a fantastic location but the food can leave a lot to be desired. I have been a few times and felt the food was often over-cooked or smothered in sauce. The service too can be abrupt and not overly friendly.
