What a little local gem! We can here on a Saturday night without a reservation. They managed to find us a table — but we were lucky as the(not small) dining room was absolutely packed. The manager came over to introduce himself as he had never seen us before. Most of his(many many) customers are apparently regulars, which we took as very positive. The food was generally very good — I had a chicken Rezala, which I have only found in one other restaurant and love, so I was happy! My garlic naan(a once a month carb treat) did not let me down, it was scrummy! My sister asked for paneer tikka masala, and although they made it without a problem, I thought the sauce was more of a pasanda. It may have been the lack of food colouring(the manager explained his strict policy), but it was still nice. We will definitely be coming back! Although next time we may take the precaution of booking a table!

Been here several times and it’s my default place to go for a proper quality curry with family and friends. Menu is extensive and varied and not just the normal korma, madras, tikka etc etc but real local specialities from the chef’s own location. The food contains no artificial colour or preservatives and is all natural. Staff are always very pleasant and polite. If you want a really good curry in the Beckenham/Bromley area you can not go wrong with The Spice Society if you can get a table.

An update. Still frequenting Spice Society. They had a sticky patch a couple of months back but, even then, it was still head and shoulders above the rest. Now they’re back on top form and the restaurant is packed on Fridays and Saturdays from about 7:30 until 10, which might be why they are finally pushing forward with their long-awaited expansion plans, which should help the place when it’s full. No quibbles but one tip; all the dishes are about half a level milder than they should be. For instance, medium-hot dishes turn up medium. Bear that in mind when you order, though when my mother-in-law wanted her food spicier it was punched up without any issue.
