I visit the Ring O Bells regularly and can say it delivers consistently excellent food and perfect service. Whether dining a la carte, or from the generously sized tapas menu, or just drinking with the regulars at the bar, one is always made to feel welcome and at home. There is live jazz and a lovely atmosphere on Sunday evenings and a great function room upstairs for parties and events.

Haven’t been to the Ringer for a while, probably a year so anxious to see if it was still good. Needn’t have worried. Despite the being a large table full celebrating a retirement and another party in the function room upstairs, service was first class. Starter of Confit duck leg and chicken terrine was excellent but large, fillet of hake with pimenton anchovy butter a nice piece of fish. Whole experience, noisy but nice!

This is a rather upmarket pub/​restaurant. In fact, it’s the kind of place you’d have a family meal with the parents, but not really somewhere to go with friends because of the prices. They have a fairly decent selection of ales, which is always good to see, so it won’t disappoint on that front, plus the food is always top notch. I guess you pay for the added quality at the end of the day. They don’t have a great range of vegetarian meals, though I’ve never been disappointed by what I’ve had. It’s always worth checking the specials board here, as it changes daily and always throws up a few surprises. Oh, it the atmosphere is always very pleasant, hence my comment on taking your parents.

Great food, wine and beer. Have been here 4 times. You can always judge a place by the crème brûlée and they are superb here. Also, like a place with a nice roaring fire especially at this time of year. Very good place to eat prior to catching a train, since it is very close to the station. I have eaten the venison, pork and steak and would recommend all of them. I particularly like the haggis starter.
