As paintball locations go, this Pensford woodland setting is fantastic — close enough to Bristol to attract corporate groups from the city(just under 10 miles), but rural enough to feel you’re far from the madding crowds. The space at this centre is split into various zones, and if you play for a half day you get to play about seven or more zones, while if you spend an exhausting full day there you can play around 14 zones. One zone has the remains of an old helicopter as part of the set, for example; another has a bamboo village, and yet another is recreating an Alpine village, and so on — all zones are really well put together so you never get bored of your surroundings. Sporting camouflage overalls and kitted out with all the latest paintball equipment, your group’s split into two evenly matched teams and taken deep into the woods to begin the paint war. The setting is ideal, giving you that real combat feeling you wouldn’t get at an indoor centre, and it’s surprising how hard your heart beats despite the fact you know you’re only going to get shot with paint! With prices from about £10 for a half day, or £15 for a full day, it’s a good value group outing — for stag dos, corporate away days, birthdays, and so on — and there are kids’ sessions available, too.
