This has been my local store for more than 13 years. Recently the atmosphere has changed to one of suspicion. As soon as I walk into the store I am followed by security. They sometimes stand beside my check out till until I finish paying, making it very clear to myself and other shoppers that I am under suspicion. This has been going on for approximately 4/5 months. Initially, I ignored their behaviour but I have decided if I do not speak up their behaviour will continue.
I am black and have a responsible job working in Law Enforcement.

A rather handy little store which seems to have come about as a result of some kind of turf war between the various major supermarkets. Until recently, High Barnet had only a Waitrose, which, while nice, is a little pricey. So it’s nice to have a small but convenient Sainsbury’s to nip into after work for those essentials that you have forgotten. It is also open much later than the aforementioned Waitrose(and most other things in sleepy Barnet), allowing you to share in that bleary eyed staggering zombie walk that most people adapt when in supermarkets late at night. I doubt that it will lure the majority of Waitrose aficionados away, so hopefully we will continue to enjoy supermarket abundance(there is also a new little Tesco around the corner).
