Frightful service, and was really only saved by the fact that the majority of the staff is Romanian and my hosts, who graciously took me to dinner here, are native speakers. Food was honestly, pretty decent, but waiting 20 minutes to get an order taken… not awesome.

I know I’m a food snob. I know I am. I will admit it readily. So when it had been suggested several times that we eat at Il Mascalzone, I turned my nose up at the notion, thinking of the cheezy sign. Don’t judge a restaurant by it’s awful signage. Il Mascalzone is a very family-friendly restaurant that seems to be owned and run by Italians. It is the perfect place to go if you’re shopping on Station Road or if you want to eat out with your family or friends. Portions are generous, there are plenty of vegetarian options(thank God) and they deliver locally. Their gelato is made in-house and whether you choose the melon or pistacio or chocolate, you’re in for something sinful and perfect. Service is friendly and the food is excellent. If you’re looking for a good menu, try the Contadina pizza, the Penne Alla Arrabiata, Foccacia bread(perfect with olive oil) and a caprese salad. Since moving here over a month ago, I’ve already been twice and I definitely will be back soon. Great restaurant, good prices, good selection — what more can you ask for?

I absolutely love this place! Great service, amazing staff, amazing food! Overall, a great atmosphere! I adore italian food and this is one of the best italian restaurants i’ve been to close to where i live. I would definitely recommend this place if you love italian food or like to try different culture foods :) The only down side is they discountinued my favorite dish from their menu :(

Delicious Italian food with a local mom and pop atmosphere. Didn’t realize it was a chain restaurant until I looked up their website. Nice. Was in the neighborhood for other reasons and after a short amount of exploring time for food we found the only decent sit down restaurant within a few blocks. It’s next to the Edgware tube station as well. Bonus. We ordered the Nizzarda salad to start(think Italian Nicoise). Yummy and just the right amount of fishiness. Followed by the Gnocci with four cheese sauce and their signature Mascalzone(half calzone, half pizza). Both delicious albeit a bit much to eat along with the salad. I don’t see myself coming back to Edgware anytime soon but I sure know where Im going if I do.
