Solomon Grundy’s

This seems to be a place for families and children but is let down by very average food and a theme/​décor (
idea why) which is starting to look very tired.
Solomon Grundy’s has been in Ballymena as long as I can remember (I think I first visited about 15 years ago!) and has changed very little.
Some people may find it to be handy for children, but otherwise there is very little to recommend it.

Almost a five star for here, but just lost out as sometimes (and only sometimes) we have had some small issues with the food. On the whole, though, a great place to have a break from shopping and most times, enjoy some great food. If you don’t like pigs, though, beware, they are everywhereyes, even in the loos (oh and the loos are upstairs, quite a narrow staircase, so avoid if you have mobility issues and are likely to need the toilet). For kids, it is great, as they can spend some time doing a colouring sheet before their meal which can then be entered into a competition and dispalyed on the wall. For younger ones, there is even a small play area with a selection of toys. Childrens videos run on TV screens around the eating areas, but no sound played.

Good honest family food at reasonable prices. Ideally situated in the shopping heart of Ballymena, and well worth lunching in! Family friendly, and unhurried. Good quick, polite and friendly service. Fun décor, plenty of pigs being Solomon Grundys!!!

Pretty good place. Good value for money, good family restaurant, lots of choice and staff always been very friendly when I’ve been there.
