Right in the centre of Bakewell is this wonderful store selling Kashmir crafts and art work. All handmade, this is definitely a place to come for that gift that is little bit different and is of the highest quality. Wooden hand-​crafted letter racks, elephants, ornate wooden boxes and fabulous Christmas decorations. Hand embroidered handbags and purses, brightly coloured fine woollen scarves are ever present. This is a must visit for us on our frequent journeys to Bakewell. The owner is friendly and the prices are very reasonable too. My one regret is that once Purdys had the most beautifully carved wooden chess set, I didn’t buy it on the day and when I went back, of course it had gone, and they’ve never had another!
