Summer schemes are a win win situation. The children get to run around having fun with lots of other kids and parents/grandparents get to have a break during the 8 or 9 week summer hols. I have been using the Paul Acheson Summer Sports Weeks for 5 years now and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere for their kids to have fun. And that’s coming from someone who is beyond anxious and over protective abut her kids. They take kids from age 4 up and the staff are consistently fun, kind and good at what they do. I have tried a couple of other schemes where the staff could best be described as disinterested. At this one, by the end of the first day they will know your child’s name and have bonded with the kids so that they are relaxed and settled in. The children get loads of fresh air and exercise. As many activities as possible are done outside and there is a swimming session each day which is great. There will also be some quieter time, especially for the youngest kids, when they will draw and paint and listen to stories. Older children and teens can do sports weeks, Bobby Charlton football schools or the very cool sounding Rock Week. At all the sessions, kids can either take a packed lunch or buy a hot dog or burger form the daily BBQ. Now for the painful bit. Each week will set you back a wallet crunching £105 per child. Ouch. But for one or two weeks during the summer of quality care and activities, I think it’s worth it.
