Top of the Town is a bar and restaurant in Antrim I visited today for a late lunch. The streetfront entrance takes you to the bar while the back entrance leads you to the restaurant. We were lucky to get a table as the place was very busy and they were fully booked for the evening. The menu is made up of some local and Chinese dishes. My choice of the scampi was not the best as it was a bit oily but portions were enourmous. I also tasted the honey chilli chicken which was very nice and the sweet potato fries were very crispy — you don’t get that every where! The waffle dessert was also quite tasty. Service is okay but staff kind of kept a distance. I liked the wee thingy/bell(I have no clue what the name of it is sorry) on each table: when pushing the button a member of staff immediately comes to your table. This way you can avoid the awkward hand signals asking for your bill etc. Overall it’s a nice eatery, I wouldn’t be rushing back for the food but it is undoubtedly good value: a main, a dessert and two cokes only cost me £15 with a tip.

Chinese? If there’s food here, it’s hidden. Perhaps under the Carlings or behind the Black Bush? Great mix, reasonable behavior, fair prices, and decent craic. I’m here July 13(parade was today) and politics are not an issue. Nice place, not as huge lot to choose from for a displaced Yankee… but this jaunty pub gets fair dues and really is the Top of Antrim.

the top of the town bar is located at the top of antrim town — hence the name :). The bar attracts an older crowd but they do have a quiz night which can be great for a nights craic. The bar has a function room which is a perfect size for a small birthday party etc and can be hired at a very reasonable price. They also let you supply your own food making it al lot cheaper than other places. good atmosphere in this bar which is always busy but not packed out.
