I’ve had lunch here twice so far and both meals were fantastic! Most noteable were the Haddock and chips. That was probably one of the BEST fish & chips I’ve ever had. The filet was huge, golden brown but not greasy at all. The fish was really fresh and flakey. It came with peas and a stack of really thick cut fries. The fish itself was so big though, I didn’t even take a bite of the peas or fries. I’d say I can’t wait to get it again, however, I have to say, the entire menu looked really good, so both times I’ve gone I’ve had a hard time choosing what to get. Ultimately, I can’t wait to go back to the Albyne, hopefully for dinner soon.

Well first visit to the Albyn i couldnt fault it. Lovely place, nice menu great staff. I first went with my partner for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We shared the haggis and black pudding fritters as a starter — mmmmmm was really great. Especially the sauce, the batter was über crisp and fresh too. We had burgers next, my parner went for cheese burger and i went for the milano veggie. Both were really good quality and was really quirky serving the chips in a mini frying basket. With soft drinks the bill was under 30quid not bad for a decent lunch in Aberdeen. The second visit im upset i cant say it was as good. Dont get me wrong my opinion on the staff and venue hasnt changed, they are all really lovely. The food however wasnt great. We went for the Royal wedding so it was a set menu. We were given a plate of canapes — i didnt eat any(was saving myself for main course) so cant comment on quality but my friends enjoyed them and cleaned the plate. The starter was fine all round. I went for pâté which you cant really go wrong with, others in my group went for haggis neep n tatties and another went for prawn cocktail no complaints there. The main courses however(what i was waiting for) were terrible — one guy went for sauages and mash the only dish our party ordered that was any good. My friend ordered shepards pie but was given macaroni cheese — which was tasteless. The kedgerie was the worst of them all it was as if they had got a packet of batcholers and put some smoked fish through it and of course some peas — cos all random foods have peas through them. I picked out the fish left the rest. The people having the fish and chips and the roast on the next table enjoyed there meals and there food looked amazing so maybe it was bad ordering on my part. Plus we did get a glass of sparkling wine so that made up for it. The best bit of that visit were the blueberry muffin martini’s we ordered. needless to say we all went back to a friends and ordered pizza coz none of us actually had enough enough to soak up the alcohol we consumed. I did however get my picture taken with the prince harry look alike bar man. And sitting in the beer garden was lovely. Some of my friends that dined with us said they wont be back but id like to give it another chance. I really think the normal menu is pretty amazo!

Nice place to either grab a quick bite to eat off their bar menu or have a nice sit down meal. The bar is also good with a nice outside area. Good happy hour deal aswell!

I’m a fan of this bar and restaurant. The bar is a civilised place, you feel safe, though I’ve never been there beyond 11 pm. Dark wood modern décor and a definite upmarket feel. It has big screens, but does not feel oppressively footie-ful. The restaurant is excellent, I love the steaks there. They do a good carvery for Sunday lunch, too. There is a club called Apres in the basement that’s meant to be for over-30ies, but the only time I looked in(with a 28 year old friend) it was very quiet. I’ve heard that it turns into a bit of a marketplace late at night, but can’t speak from experience.
