Ahhh The Verandah. Brings back so many memories. One of my favorite HK chefs who is currently the Executive Chef of HK’s incredible Ritz-Carlton hotel was the executive chef here when I lived here in the 90s. He was pretty incredible. I remember one of my favorite dishes here was a slow poached salmon which melted in my mouth. I returned here on my birthday this year with a friend for lunch. For old times’ sake, we both decided to order the Classic Menu for lunch. This is a 3-course menu starting with either a Caesar Salad prepared table side, or the French onion soup. We both chose one. Main courses included a salmon or a steak. We both opted for the classic Repulse Bay Black Pepper Steak. Dessert includes a Baked Alaska or a Soufflé — once again, we both chose one each. The experience at The Verandah is unrivaled. You will dine in a beautiful dining room overlooking Repulse Bay. The iconic building is typical of colonial British architecture, something that is slowly disappearing in Hong Kong. Service is impeccable like you would expect from a Peninsula Hotel property.
