Not to be confused with the similarly-named Dalin Pocha down the road(which I think is operated by the same group, but serves different kinds of food — this one is entirely BBQ focused), Dalin BBQ’s interior really struck me when I walked in, as it reminded me a lot of the delicious, local Korean BBQ restaurants I visited when I went to Seoul. It’s a huge, open space, with rows and rows of the round BBQ tables with the huge ventilating fans dangling from the ceiling. The quirky part of the grill is that they have two spaces around the grill that holds egg and onions respectively, so they cook slowly while the grill is going with all the meats, and you end up with delicious meat, egg and caramelized onions. We ordered one of the sets, which came with an assortment of meats — they were generally really tender and juicy, and also came with a serving of pig skins(which may be more of an acquired taste — only half of our table actually ate that). Overall, super yummy and there are so many Korean restaurants around that area in Tsim Sha Tsui /Jordan that I’d love to try out!

A good attempt in recreating many popular BBQ places that are hot right now in Korea and in LA. This place is large with many tables, but it was packed on a Saturday night even at 930pm! The food must be good. We ordered quite a few cuts of meat, starting with the thinly sliced beef(chadol) which was good, however a bit fatty for my taste and liking. We then got the marinated kalbi which was excellent however by far the best meat we had of the night was the pork. Suspecting that they specialize in pork, we tried the garlic infused pork, and it did not disappoint. Deliciously marinated and tasty. Other notable items on the menu included the«lunch box» which I decided to shake it up to create a mixed rice effect for my friends to try and also my favourite was the Dwengjang Chigae. Delicious and full of ingredients and a nice kick and punch at the end– perfect for chasing those soju and somek shots away. Overall, great to see the Korean food scene arriving in HK and having new places to enjoy my beloved Korean cuisine.

My friend is a ‘Maven’ — the kind of person who knows every place however small and hidden here and there and recommends, warns, advices all the time, so that you can always get the best deal. If you join him for a meal at a restaurant, you’ll also get the best dish on the menu, because he’s already tried it. So my sister and I joined him for an improvised lunch at this new Korean place(yeah, it’s new but this was his third time there). I was impressed by the decoration inside: each table has a grill plate in the middle and a hood over it, shiny so the interior immediately catches your attention. As they had just opened, there was no one there. We picked a table close to the kitchen, which is opened to the dining floor. We ordered different cuts of beef and pork. They first served the sides(veggies and sauces) and heated up the grill. The waiter, a lovely girl who spoke Spanish and engaged with us in conversation, poured the eggs, cheese and corn and cooked and cut the meats. There’s this thing about Korean bbqs… if the meat isn’t good, you know it, as you eat it nude. Yeah, you add your side and grill this and that, but the meat comes raw and it gets cook in front of your eyes. And I love this. I thought it was very tasty, and reasonably priced. I want to be a Maven too so I’m going to recommend you this place. No, seriously, it’s good!
