Been coming here for years. A bit hard to find amongst the back alley ‘hot pot’ smokers off Wellington Street — and a sweaty stair climb.
I’ve never booked here, and the longest I’ve had to wait is about 15 minutes. Great atmosphere — dark wood, black and white photos and bevelled mirrors. Not quite the plush leather and brass of the Mandarin Oriental, but a manly feel all the same.
Cutters and stylists are receptive to requests and sufficiently skilful to give you what you want. I lucked out with a GQ magazine at my seat with Daniel Craig on the front — too easy to point at his picture and ask for a cut like James Bond in Spectre!
Definitely a haunt for me.
