Kennick did a good job with my haircut — this is he first time we met. The salon is well laid out, comfortable. Great head massage. Conveniently located and reasonably priced for the service quality and location! Will return!

Its my first time to the Attic recommended by my friend. I went to do the haircut and colouring, the colorist gave me so much ideas about the highlight on my hair, it looks very nice and I love it. They show me the trend of the hair in this season. Sometimes, I have no any idea when I go to the salon, thanks The Attic!

Attic belongs to the more premium priced barbershops in Hong Kong. As of Feb ’15, a haircut will set you back HKD400. The flow of a simple haircut is just like any other barbershop you go to in Hong Kong(not counting those 10 minute ones): 1.(Book in advance), Walk in, get seated, 2. You are taken to get your hair washed/rinsed several times while you’re given a scalp massage 3. Get seated again and your stylist will approach you asking you how you would like your hair cut. 4. Hair cut 5. You are taken to get your hair rinsed, a much quicker rinse than the first time. 6. Hair is dried and combed. Gelled if required. 7. Pay, tip and leave. The difference between Attic and a HKD100 – 200 cut is in #2, #4 and #7. #2 Scalp massage For me, half the 400 bill is for the massage. It’s quite long, 15mins or so, and better than the ones I get in actual massage places(most massage places don’t do scalp massage anyway). #4 Haircut At cheaper places, you will tell them what you want and they will do it. Here, they are constructive and also offer advice to improve your current cut. E.g. «the top of your head is more flat than round, might be a better idea to keep the hair trimmed more closely there instead of your usual». Also, I can’t say for everyone, but the stylist I use is meticulous and bit of a perfectionist. So he will spend time looking for flaws after the cut and do some minor nipping and corrections, even if I can’t see anything wrong. Good if you have a lot of time I guess. So in the end, there is a visible difference if you have a 400 haircut versus a 100 one. Even for me, and I have really short hair. #7 Tips? Unlike usual places, they don’t seem to require tips? The exact pricing(400 instead of a 360 or 385 you can round up on) suggests no tipping for me and they seem quite ok. Someone correct me if wrong, though. Overall a great place if you want more than a generic cut, or if you really enjoy scalp massages. :D

I have better things to do during the weekend and I get off too late to go after work, hence I usually get my haircuts during lunch hour. The closest hair salon to my office used to be Chin G. But since The Attic opened around a month ago, this will become my new go-to place for my lunchtime haircut. The place is a bit evasive, the building is hidden in the alley right next to New World Tower. But enter the alley, and the building is quite apparent. The interior of the salon is quite spacious, and smell like a spa, with scented candles burning to soothe your senses. The service is great, reception is polite and so are the people that wash your hair. Once you sit down, you will be asked if you would like a drink and you’ll get a stack of magazines. I can’t comment much on the stylists, since every one is different. But I believe they are all from Chin G and another Central salon, so they are supposed to be experienced and among the cream of the crop. As a reference, my haircut is around HK$ 400, but I’m not sure if this is the full price or the trial-period price.
