I love the service at NOM, and the spaciousness(they have a bar/drinking area, and dining area), and the food. I have been there many times, and this is a review of my lunch trip on 24 Dec, and we had their set lunch. Note that items will change. 1) baby spinach with quinoa, cauliflower and goat cheese — oh I love. Love love love. It was an explosion of flavors and texture. You know sometimes quinoa is bitter? Not this one. And the cauliflower was pickled and gave it a crunchy factor to the dish. Each bite was awesome. And come on, goat cheese?!? Loves! 2) italian beans soup with truffle — nice, moreish, hearty. 3) clams & mussels in spicy seafood broth — oh wow. I loved this one. Something about dipping bread into unctuously flavorful seafood gravy sauce. My only wish? More of the broth please!!! I was scooping up every single last drop. 4) porchetta sandwich — oh, man. This was da bomb. No, honestly. It was good. I was craving for a good sarnie and this one scratched my itch big-time!!! The Taleggio cheese was lovely; it’s a harder cheese so it won’t give off a melty, drippy, messy texture(which actually I prefer) but it still works very very well. And oh yes, more pickled cauliflower too. Overall, perhaps the best item in the set. 5) ice-cream slider — this is their regular dessert for the set. It was very enjoyable, as you can see from the photo. 6) tiramisu — now, my dessert was special. Chef Fabrizio came out and said that mine would be different. He wanted me to try the tiramisu(served ala carte). It was very good. Not your usual syle of using lady’s fingers. The sauce is a splendid blend of caramel, chocolate & ginger. Everything worked very well. Suffice to say, I’m a fan. My sister & bro-in-law love this place so much, it’s their date night place. Hahaha. Come in groups for a fun night too! They have Monkey 47 gin!!!

Was really excited to try out NOM because of their selection of meatballs. This place is hard to find! We walked right past it because the entrance was so small. It’s located upstairs and consisted of mostly high up bar seats and also a dining section. It’s located in the middle of the uphill Elgin Street, and has a teeny entrance, so even with the GPS we walked right past the place. Food: 3.5÷5 We ordered the Hokkaido Scallops and Bone Marrow for appetizer, several meatballs and also a pizza to share. They definitely have a very interesting combination of different meatballs, which seemed to be the speciality of the restaurant, but the size of the meatballs was probably not worth it for the price, slightly overpriced in my opinion. Service: 4⁄5 Service was pretty good, the waiters were pretty attentive and helpful, but perhaps a little preoccupied with the many things and customers in the restaurant. Other than that, the servers were very polite and not much complaints, but wouldn’t say it’s top notch.

I’ve heard that the balls in here are«humongous» and«delicious» — cue the perverted minds of the girls dinner chat as we arranged our Friday night date. We teetered up to the venue(heels + the slopes of Elgin street) and headed up the stairs. The venue is gorgeous. I’m really enjoying the modern interiors with big tables giving Hong Kong an illusion of space. We were led to our table and settled in. I think this was the first sign of poor service as we waited a good 10 minutes before being given a menu, though we were given a bread basket(which we chomped through). We ordered an array of balls and salads. As a tip, the balls come in portions of 3, but if you ask nicely they’ll make the portion to the size of your group(for an additional fee). Starters & Sides: Tuna Tartare — this was off the specials board and quite tasty Burrata — deliciously fresh with juicy tomatoes(that tasted like tomatoes rather than water, one of my pet peeves in HK) Quinoa Salad — yummy, especially with the raw cauliflower and goats cheese Baby Cauliflower — I actually didn’t like this as it had a strong, sour aftertaste that I wasn’t expecting. Balls: now, as a whole, I was disappointed with the size. With all the pre-dinner banter, I was imagining fist sizes balls of juicy goodness. They are an average meatball size, which is probably a good thing as we ordered so much! Risotto Balls — smothered in truffle. Absolutely my favourite. Beef Balls — succulent, juicy and with a divine tomato and goats cheese sauce Cod Balls — served with chips and coffee mayonnaise. My least favourite, but I enjoyed them(without the coffee Mayo) nonetheless. Now — the food is good. I would go here for a good meal, however the service is just poor. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water and then table water. Half way through the meal, they decided to give us a bottle of still water. Hands to them, they did take this off the bill when we asked. The servers also hung around the table and cleared dishes before we even took our last bite. It was a bit unnerving. The complete opposite happened when we actually wanted some help, and it took a good 15 minutes to get the bill, and then pay for it. I’ll probably be back, but not expecting good service and average sized balls(yum!).

Yes, I’m a fan! Finally got to check out NOM yesterday after a longggg awaited time. Came here with my aunt and cousins and we all had a great time here. The service was good, chef was nice, food was tasty. What more can one ask for? Definitely plan to come back to eat more yummy food. :)

As soon as I heard that Fabrizio was opening his own restaurant I couldn’t wait to go to NOM –I had loved his food at Goccia and was very sorry to see it close it’s door. I didn’t love the name of the new restaurant but never judge a book by its cover and all that. I was happy to hear that NOM would be opening on Lower Elgin Street which is close to my home and office and a real up and coming little area of SoHo. I couldn’t get a booking in the restaurant area but was happy to eat by the bar on one of only a few high tables. I went with a friend and we ordered a selection of dishes — lamb meatballs, baratta, beef meatballs, suckling pig meatballs and pumpkin. My favourite were the beef which were balanced on a tube of pasta. They were phenomenal and closely matched by the lamb. The baratta was creamy and delicious but I didn’t care for the pork. We saw some impressive aperol cocktails leave the bar but stuck to the mocktails ourselves. My choice tasted strongly of ginger which is exactly what I wanted having felt a bit fluey for a few days. Vibe wise I unfortunately found NOM a little flat. The restaurant is just so huge and there is a large empty space in the bar which just makes it feel… Well, empty! The bar is also separated from the dining room by glass walls that flank the staircase so that even if the atmosphere was buzzing, it wouldn’t spread between the two rooms. It was early days when I went to NOM and I can see it’s getting better and better but it didn’t blow my mind of my first visit. I will definitely go back though if only for those amazing beef meatballs.
